Fuel system issue question - '93 Shadow 3.0

Hey guys, Got A new fuel tank, pump and sender (both Delphi) installed last Wednesday. Got it back with a little less than a quarter tank, drove around and ran a bunch of errands on Thursday. Ran great. It had about an eighth of a tank in it when I headed back home so I stopped and filled it up...

Ever buy a preemptive parts car/mechanics special?

I bought a '92 Plymouth Sundance Duster for $700. Running other than a bad fuel pump. 256,000 miles. No dents or rust, but paint was completely destroyed from the Texas sun. Robbed the manual transmission and wiring harness to convert my Shadow to manual. Robbed a bunch of interior stuff...

    Mowing lawn when wet?

I do it when it can't be avoided. Haven't really seen a difference in the way it cuts other than having to slow way down in the thick spots. I do have to use the jet nozzle under the mower when I'm done.

    Debit Card hacked

My debit card stays tucked neatly inside my wallet unless I am at a Chase branch ATM to get cash. I don't use it for purchases at all, considering I get cash back on my credit card and I don't get any benefit for using my debit card. Both of my siblings have had their debit cards hacked more...

    Gumout Regane Vs. Chevron Techron

I've had two valid successes using Techron fuel system cleaner. In 1996, ran two bottles through a full tank in a 1992 3000 GT and the stumbling and overall poor performance disappeared. In 2009, ran two bottles in a full tank in my 2005 Explorer Sport Trac when the fuel gauge became sluggish...

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

Out of the list you provided, I'd pick the Focus, as long as you get a manual.

    Trax overheated today..

I'm reminded of a situation that a '96 Explorer put me in around 2000. Apparently there was a well-known issue coolant coupling / hose at the back of the engine that would leak so slowly, you could never find a trace of coolant, but it would eventually run the system low and the pump would...

Walmart removing self checkouts, reported results include significant reduction in theft

They just pay more people to stand around the self-checkouts and breathe down your neck where I live. Which is fine, I have nothing to hide. I'm sure they saw self-checkouts as a massive savings, here's their reality check. Criminal scum are all around us.

    Societal addiction to phones

I'm not one to judge how people entertain themselves, Lord knows I spend enough time reading through this website, and Facebook, Instagram and X. Where my problems begin is when people are getting into serious car accidents because they were looking down at their phones There's no excuse for...

Should I change type of oil for a vehicle that is burning it ?

My 2015 Canyon 3.6 started burning PP 5W30 at around 50,000 mi. Switched it over to Castrol 5W-40 and it slowed down. If you're looking for a complete fix, you're probably going to have to clean the ring lands.

Fram or Purolator for the KIa

I was told this exact same thing about my '09 Forte Koup 2.4 by a technician when I took it in for a topside noise. I can't remember what I had put on it, but he told me to get it off. Noise resolved with a Kia filter. I've just used OEM on everything since then with no issues.

Reuse oil that has 500 miles on it, safe?

The only reason to shy away from it is if the catch pan wasn't 100% clean and the oil wasn't 100% sealed as soon as it was captured. I've thrown away perfectly good oil because I neglected to clean the drain pan before I captured it. Worthless (imo) at that point.

    Canceling Toyota care

I got reminded again 3 weeks ago why I don't take cars there and I don't advocate for my family to take their cars there. I change the oil in my sister-in-law's Mustang and had to use a hammer on the ratchet handle to get the drain plug off. Granted it wasn't a very long ratchet handle, but it...

    Canceling Toyota care

Ford taught me an important lesson about this subject. Do as much maintenance on my own as I can, because the less opportunity they have to touch my car, the less opportunity they have to screw it up. If you've got the tools and the ability, do it all yourself.

Who knew? Amazon "NewParts" is Rockauto?

Interesting find today while tracking an Amazon package. I ordered a fuel tank, pump, sender, and a couple of other miscellaneous things, and it turns out to be a UPS shipment that tracks back to RockAuto,. Some of you guys probably knew that, but I had no idea. Saved a few bucks ordering it all...

Living near Austin TX. Considering a move to TX.

So this is a Texas epidemic. The traffic, and the traffic signals in Dallas are absolutely infuriating. None of them are timed to flow traffic. It brings a little comfort knowing that Dallas isn't the only place with miserable traffic. I know Houston is equally as miserable, and as crazy as the...

Fuel line question - '93 Shadow

It was pretty obscure stuff, wasn't sure it would be worth much to anybody here. The fuel lines on my 93 Shadow connect to the fuel pump via quick connects, and there's about 9,000 different styles, which presents about 8,999 different ways to get them on and off. These are the connectors on...

    '98 Taurus cooling issue mystery

That would be my first question for them... Do you hear the fan coming on? If yes, then I would suspect a collapsed tank in the radiator. Happened to a friend of mine with an El Dorado, I never forgot it because it was a similar circumstance... Everything else was replaced and it's still...
