That’s a good filter. Just curious, any reason for the switch from 5w30 to 5w40?

Determining the Proper Oil for Your Engine - Email from Lake Speed Jr

I think I’ll take a lubrication engineer’s advice who worked for NASCAR who repeatedly shows the data behind his claims over advice from a faceless dude on the internet, but thanks.

    2025 denali ultimate oil question

The test from that machine literally is the proof. Not sure how that was missed. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Wear went up 3x using a diesel oil.

    2025 denali ultimate oil question

I wouldn’t use a diesel oil in a gas engine. There’s plenty of good 40wt gas engine oils to go with. Mobile has the dexos R stuff that GM recommends now for the 6.2 but it’s about $16 a quart. There’s plenty of euro oils that cost less and should work just fine.

New Sierra HD with 6.6 gasser ordered, wondering about cSt

Nothing, except for that extra $$$ payment to GM for their dexos money making scheme.

Why doesn't Kirkland synthetic oil put a mileage rating on it?

In my opinion nobody should be putting mileage claims on oil. There’s too many variables to determine how many miles you can go on any oil.

What’s your oil pressure like? I run 5w30 in mine and it’s just a smidge higher than 0w20. Curious what it shows with 0w40.

Pinion seal leak, 2019 Silverado 1500 SU7 axle.

Yeah I’ve seen plenty of videos of guys doing just that on Fords and GMs. Looks to be the most fool proof way to make sure it’s on right.

Pinion seal leak, 2019 Silverado 1500 SU7 axle.

If it was loose, wouldn’t that cause a driveline vibration of some sort?

Pinion seal leak, 2019 Silverado 1500 SU7 axle.

I was leaning towards just doing this. What strength of loctite or thread sealer did you use?

Pinion seal leak, 2019 Silverado 1500 SU7 axle.

The pinion nut is not reusable. Not sure about the flange bolts. According to GM the pinion nut has to be replaced. Otherwise I was going to do just that. Maybe I can count the threads.

Pinion seal leak, 2019 Silverado 1500 SU7 axle.

So I have a pinion seal leak on my 2019 Silverado LT. It has the SU7 axle and only 46k miles. I DIY all my own maintenance and minor repairs and prefer to do this myself. Any instructions, advice or tips are appreciated. The only torque spec instructions I’ve found after installing a new...

    Are trans coolers necessary?

I had a 2016 f150 and it had the dummy gauge but it also showed the exact trans fluid temperature if you flipped through the driver info screen.

    Champion Labs PH10063

0w20 Valvoline Advanced and another PH10063. I planned on staying on 5w30 but I had 4 qts of 0w20 sitting in the garage. Figured since winter is coming it would be a good time to use the thin stuff up.
