Why acea a3 is better than acea c3? Is that for better wear protection? A gdi engine wont benefit from a low ash oil to protect from carbon build up?

Yes its a turbo 3 cylinder 3 liter diesel engine. The first oil change was done a few days ago at 100 hours but I have no idea what oil they used. The first service was free. The next one will be at 300 hours. If I remember correctly they recommend transmission fluid service every 1200 hours...

Most seem to recommend the 15w40 so I will probably use that because its also easier to find and cheaper. What about the 300 hour interval? Is it too long for conventional 15w40 to handle?

15w40 is very good choice for aircooled engines because of its shear stability. Not a lot heavier than the sae30 but it will give better oil flow on cold start.

The engine has hydraulic roller tappets.

Today i changed the oil in the Hyundai ix35 1.6 GDi with Mobil1 esp formula 5w30. Very low noack low calcium to prevent pre igniton and carbon build up on the intake valves. I change the oil every 5k miles.

I can find this oil on very low price. Would you recommend it for use in a mercedes c180 kompressor with the M271 engine. The car sees mostly short trips in town. What oci would you recommend?

In greece most most mechanics use 10w40 oils in many cars and the typical oil change interval is 3-5k miles. In older years the oil most used was 20w50. My father was using 10w40 in our honda jazz but when i started taking care of the car i switched to 5w30 or 5w40 synthetic..but i kept the low...
