I read from wiki that ester needs phenol or alcohol to formulate. therefore, I guess someone may deduce the ester concentration from this has-to-be-declared phenol.

My Honda PCX scooter, with Mobil fs 0w-40, smooth as silk. I changed to EP 5-30, rough, very discernable rough. Is it normal? the scooter recommends 10W-30.

thank you all for kind reply. But I learn by searching that, SAPS tests will burn the oil and see how much residuals remain. This smells like bad oxidation pollutants left on engine, bad, isn't it? just hunch feeling.

Sir, the presentation is not about FS version. I am intrigued to find there are two previous NON-FS 0W40 version. FS seems the 3rd generation product. No one knows if they are getting better or more inferior.

My two cents: Common belief: gentle driving 20 wins, rough 40 wins. the experiments should be 4 sets: gentle/20 rough/20 gentle/40 rough/40.
