    Under valve cover shot

I wish I had taken off the cover when I first got it. I am curious if the oil did any cleaning.

    LHM brake fluid (Citroen 2CV)

I'll resurrect this thread because I also own an 80s 2CV. I assume you probably got your LHM from Kenji at French Parts Service. This fluid can be had from Napa and Auto Value stores https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/AOR1402106_0423208778 I have seen late 2CVs that people have put DOT fluid...

    Buying based on service

I agree. His parts are basically in-line with what I would pay by the time I factor what I would pay in parts and gas to go the 20 miles to the Advance type stores. I pay $3.60 for HDEO 15-40 and about $5 a quart for Dexos oil. So I don't think it's totally unreasonable.

    Buying based on service

Anybody here find themselves buying their oil/parts etc. because of the service they receive and not necessarily the absolute best price? I live in a rural area and the local store is staffed primarily by the owner and he provides excellent service. It extends to the point that he is helping me...

    Wife wants a convertible

What I think is a hoot about this is that for years I have driven either my Citroen 2CV or my Citroen Dyane 100 miles round trip for commutes in weather where we don't have snow. These cars would blow many of your minds when it comes to NVH, power, etc. yet I love it. Maybe his wife won't like...

    The World and salting roads

Rust proofing helps but you can't stop it completely. Yes, Germany salts roads. This picture was taking in Germany. http://www.2cvsrus.com/restoration/buyers_guide/rust/fotos/salt/P2020014.JPG

    The World and salting roads

In regards to winter beaters. The very definition of winter beaters if they're beat. Do you want to be stranded when it's -20 outside in a rural area? That is why my wife drives a new Buick Verano.

    The World and salting roads

I note that most of the people in this thread who say there should be no salting of the roads don't lives in locales that really have the weather that warrant it. Yes, Europe uses salt. This page shows a car in Germany covered in salt.

Bought a '14 Buick Verano today

Well I've had this thing for over 3 months now and almost 12,000 miles of driving and I have to say it's been good so far. No issues with the car and the dealer has been doing the free oil changes without incident.
