AEM Dryflow vs Amsoil EaAU for 1000 HP supra!

I currently have a K&N 9" conical air filter on my intake for the supra. However, I do not like the idea of an oiled filter. I have been reading quite a bit and had pretty much made up my mind on the AEM Dryflow with the 4" ID and 9" length, which is the largest conical 4" ID filter they make...

Is there a website worse than Motul's?

I have been on Motul's website for the last 30min and I am so frustrated I want to shoot myself. At first i thought it was my laptop. Then I tried another three desktops and I can't see anything. The menu system sucks. Is this just me, or has anyone gone thru the same thing. Does anybody have a...

    RLI SPECS & PAPER

So is it that the Amsoil AME 15w-40 is just a thin 15w? Cause its viscosity at 40 is 89. It just seems as though they could have called this 10w-40 or 15w-40.

    RLI SPECS & PAPER

I have no doubt about your word on being fuel dilution resistant. But my question is still unanswered? Why is the virgin oil has a viscosity of 90 at 40deg being a 5w, when most 5w oils at 40deg have a viscocity of 50-60? The Amsoil AME 15w-40 has a viscosity of 89 at 40deg. I am not doubting...

Oil for a new Ferrari F430?

I would use any of the following: Amsoil TSO 2000 series 0w-30 Motul 300V 5w-30 Redline 5w-30 I don't care what anyboy says, that motor needs more than a 20 weight oil.

    RLI SPECS & PAPER

I am very interested in this oil. I do have a very important question though. The 5w-40's viscosity at 40deg is higher than some 15w-40 oils. Most 5w oils have a viscosity at 40 at somewhere in the 50's and not 90s? Can anyone explain that?

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

Well the MKIV supra did not come out until 1993 and it is considered as one of the most stout stock bottom ends to ever come out of a production car. There are many supras running around with 800whp with the stock bottom end. How many cars can say that? Above that level, you do need a bottom...

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

He just stated that for the turbo charge and 8000rpm, there will be some shearing going on and none of the 30weights give a high enough HT/HS that he would like. He said if there he had to choose one though it would be the HDD 3000 series 5w-30 since it has a great additive package, low wear and...

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

He spent a good 30min on the phone going over all the options. He said that the 20w-50 might be too thick in his opinion based on my clearances. Although he did say that until we run the car and look at the oil pressure and temperatures we will not know a 100%. Stock supra main clearance is...

    quick break in question?

I have a race engine and after a thorough research a bunch of people recommended the Brad Penn Break in Oil Brad Penn Break In Oil Now this oil is meant strictly for the initial cam break in. Its a non-synthetic, straight 30weight oil with lots of additive stuff. Run it at 2500-3500 for...

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

After speaking to one of the top tech guys at amsoil, he recommended that I go with the Amsoil AME 15w-40. He said its much better than the 10w-40 cause it has a much better additive package cause its a diesel oil. He said all the other 30weights HT/HS are a little too low in his opinion for my...

Oil in spark plug well help

I have a BMW 540 V8 and thy are notorious for valve cover gaskets needing replacement at 80-100K. Th oil will eventually find its way to the spark plug itself and also it might drip on your exhaust manifold/etc and cause a nice burning smell in your cabin if you don't get it fixed.

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

No offense taken But those supras are running stock rear end for the most part. The 6-speed getrag transmission that came with the supra is as stout as you can get. Thera are no aftermarket manual trannies for the supras. Most supra owners upgrade to the TRD LSD for better traction, but its a...

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

You must have not clicked on those videos i just posted above. You will see that there are supras running 7s. Lol, i have heard the same comment mostly from domestic owners that think mustangs/vettes are the end all to all cars:) I am a car guy, so domestic/import doesnt mean anything to me as...

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

Well it put down 700whp with only 17psi on pump gas only. We never even tested it with 25-30psi and race gas. That by itself is 800 at the crank. Now with fully built bottom end, 3.4L stroker etc, 30psi and ~900-950whp is definitely doable. As far as being dyno queens, there are definitely...

ASTM D4741 vs ASTM D4683 HT/HS Amsoil vs Redline

I noticed that Redline reports their HT/HS numbers based on the ASTM D-4741 method while AMSOIL reports theirs based on the ASTM D-4683 method. Redline seems to be a tad higher for similar oil type and weight. I wanted to know if Redline is getting higher numbers because their test methodology...

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

Lol, its ok. But do you think those are tight tolerances? Just reading the article above I posted states that the clearances they use in the pontiac engine for rod and main are between 1.5-2.5 thouasanths and more than that you have oil pressure problems. Its interesting that mine also fall...

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

I am not sure why you are having trouble. Clearances are measured in thousandths. And I have never heard of piston to wall clearance of 40 thousandths. You don't need a platigauge for that. You can measure that with a twizler:) Here is a little article talking about clearances in a pontiac...

Oil recommendation for a 1000 horsepower supra!

I am leaning towards the two choices: Either motorcycle oils such as the Amsoil 10w-40 MCF or the Mobil MX4T (4T). They seem to have a higher ZDDP than their car autoparts very nice HT/HS. My car has no cats, so no emission stuff to worry about. The other choice i am considering is the Amsoil...
