Local Mandate for state inspection dropped

A sure money maker for repair garages. I have been "failed" for brake pads with 6/32" left (state standard is 2/32'), failed and then quoted $1000 for new entire exhaust system (fixed for $32) , "collapsed" front struts that were barely one month old, perfect ball joints that the shop refused to...

    AC Condenser Fin Cleaner

no- the condenser below front bumper and grill. Fins are quite dirty and AC is not as great as it once was. Plenty of 134 in the system and no leaks, good compressor, etc. My first step was to replace cabin filter and now clean those fins. Need a cleaner that is not damaging to aluminum

Possible AC issues on the Corolla

well, when we lived in super hot and humid Houston, we learned quickly what was good and that gen corolla was weak. Ppl there said the same and even here somewhere. What is "cold" for someone is barely adequate for someone else. Japanese cars were all weak in Houston back then

    Sweetie's Prius is Dead

I'd get a good load tester. IME, nothing works better. You can use all those fancy electronic testers but you really need to stress test a battery. Got to charge it up first

    Lube new chain before using?

You are right- I forgot decimal point location but you knew what i meant. For 9 or less it's 0.75%. Will ring/sprocket last longer with 0.5%? For 10 or more it will, but not for 9 or less IMO.
  17. W

    Lube new chain before using?

that 0.05% applies to chains greater than 9 speed. For 9 and less- it's 0.075%. Don't think new bikes even come with 9 speed gear anymore, but.. alot still around. Using the ruler is a bit of a pain on an installed chain. That chain tool sure makes it easy and quick

    Park Polylube

Shimano "DuraAce " green grease is a highly praised premium bike lube but very expensive. Its the iridescent yellow green stuff. IMO , it's the best bike lube. Based on my research, I believe Its a calcium sulfonate grease. Tractor Supply has the Traveler marine grease based on it for cheap. YMMV

Use silicone grease to lube cables. Slicker than cat poo. I use Permatex dielectric or similar (not cat poo)
