Hi Edyvw- Always appreciate your posts. When you say "the previous version of PPE" are you referring to the version available this year made with natural gas or some other earlier PPE version ?

There have been statements from reliable posters that Quaker State 5w40 Euro is the same oil blend as Pennzoil 5w40 Euro. Any clear cut answer ? The Quaker state is readily available but the Pennzoil is not and costs much more.

Thanks, Marconi.I had read there was a way to restructure the pcv valve tubing so less oil would be lost. Is this similar to the ow pilot mod you reference? I will definitely search e46 fanatics.

Thanks everyone- excellent suggestions. My mechanic did a valve cover gasket recently and I’ll check with him (as well as about that mischievous pct valve). Meanwhile hoping the flush helped a bit.

Putting the LM flush in as we speak. Then Pennzoil euro 0w40 and ordering the high performance cleaner. Sincerely appreciated. I’ll get back with results.

My 2002 e46 has been using a quart of castrol ow40 every 1000 miles. I have never used a flush. Any input regarding using Luqui moli engine flush, or Amsoil engine flush or even High performance engine cleaner would be really great.

Is the PAO content in Mobil1 0w40 so significant that it makes this oil the best choice (say for cars needing 229.5 pr LL-01) ?

How important is it to have an oil that has a good bit of PAOs in it like Castrol 0W40 is said to have had ?

So I'm wondering should I stay with Castrol euro (5w30 was what my 2002 325IT called for) or maybe try out Pennzoil euro or even Pentosine ?

Castrol 0w40 euro has been my go to for many years (after GC exited). Do we think it will come back soon, ever get the LL-01 certification, pr is it now more expensice for Castrol to make (because of PAOs in it) and it is now gone forever ?
