    Gas Prices Are Going Up

Considering we had to work with $4/gal in 2008-2014 or so... Anything under $3/gal is still cheap to me. I hardly ever really look at the price at the station I am at usually. It's a cost I have to pay, so it is what it is. Perhaps when gas breaks $5/gal I may reconsider taking the V8 out as...

Can you bring a lithium jump box on a plane?

Yes, I have had no issue flying with those battery boxes on flights. I fly Southwest usually, which has no USB charging ports or anything, so I rely on those to keep the phone charged up.

    New car break-in

I just recently got out of my break-in period on my Camaro SS, which I got with 6 miles on the ODO. Did the best I could to just vary RPM, not hold gears for a long time and keep it under 4K RPM or so. When it was fully heated up, I would push it a bit further than that and drive fairly...

    Salt

Lol, perhaps because people have far more important reasons than how quickly their car may rust out? Then you got cost of living and all that fun stuff. My 150K house would likely be 1M+ out in California and there is no way I would make that much more to offset that doing the exact same job...

    Your neighborhood grocery store

I have a small, craft cheese shop just down the street from me. Really cool shop, making their own cheeses as well on top of carrying a bunch of fantastic local and domestic/import cheeses.

Do you preheat the oven and why?

I have with thermocouples and a data logger I had from work for some testing I was doing at home. Bake a lot of breads and stuff, so wanted to check. My oven was within a few degrees of setpoint. My oven had a calibration option and I didn't have to even use it. Spot on at various temperatures...

Your Major Annoyances on Your Car!??

Two things I can think of on my 21' Camaro SS: 1.) The very delicate clear coat. The softest I have experienced, no question. Requires 'soft clearcoat' dedicated products (Meguiar's M210 is one I found that works well) and takes a lot more care when working the paint any. I got the process down...

    Water Heater anode rod question

Pulled my anode rod on my tank a few weeks back. Its been in since the tank was new, probably 8-10 years now? Rod still looked great, a lot of meat left on it. Decided to not replace it just yet. Used a Milwaukee 1/2" impact to get it out. No problem for that!

Am i the only one really disliking SUVs?

I don't mind SUV/CUV's, but the benefits in room and versatility often come at the expense of fun (power, suspension, COG, etc...)

Do trees help block noise between homes?

Joking or not, the fact that some of you literally offer suggestions to kill the dog is just insane and disgusting. I really hate people more often than not these days, my god. It's the owners problem, not the dog. Obviously the owners are negligent, but that should not be taken out on the dog...

What is the mileage you normally run an OCI?

I do bi-annual typically, which when I was driving more, would be between 5000-7500 OCI. Now, its maybe 3000-5000. The winter beater gets annual changes, which is probably around 3000 OCI.

    Any Mazda 3 Owners Here?

Girlfriend has had two... A 2005 which she had for about five years until she upgraded to the 2010 (and her mom took over her 2005). In those five years with the 2005, she had around 100K on the ODO. Body rust in unusual places (rear trunk near badge) and around the wheel wells of course. No...

    Rock Chips

For the cost of (good) PPF, I'd rather just get the front bumper resprayed once it is destroyed enough to warrant it. But that's just me!

    Rock Chips

PPF is thin urethane. It helps for protection against light debris, but it absolutely won't survive impact against larger rocks and other projectiles. I decided against PPF on my new car because PPF also gets damaged and looks like crap long term. So why pay more money for little benefit?

    Slow crank, but fired up

Had this happen last year on the Mazda 3. Must have left a light on, or something. It JUST turned over and had gauges flying back and forth, clicking and the power steering coming in/out. Once it was off, it wasn't coming back on. Tried to jump it, no luck. Thought it was a goner! Took the...

Best performing all weather tire for snow

I can't recommend the General Altimax Arctic tires enough. Put them on two of my cars and the handling in snow/sleet/slush is just fantastic, day/night difference from all season tires (obviously). Ran one set six years and they still had 7/32 thread remaining. Price to performance ratio just...

    Your tolerance for rust?

As mentioned previously, other things will go before the rust gets bad enough to warrant any heartburn. My 140K mile 2008 Scion xB was 10 years old, through tons of snow/sleet/salt and no visible rust anywhere on the body. It was also lowered and basically acted like a snow plow in deep snow. No...
