How many miles before changing brake shoes?

I have 120,000 on my Avalon and every time I take it in for a tire rotation they say they are fine. I think Honda and Toyota use better brakes or maybe their drivers are just easier on their cars.

BMW is now trying water injection.

I think some people tried this back in the 60's and it had too many problems. BMW sure is getting into a lot of complexity with their designs. All their cars will have Turbo's and now some will have water injection along with fuel injection. Water injection...

but what STRENGTH' jack do I need?

I use my jack to lift entire front of the car so I can change the oil. With the engine in front it should weigh more than 50% of the entire car. Of course I jack the car after I lift it for safety. So do not think you should only lift 1/4 of the car.

Amazing what's bout to be thrown away

Job transfers, Divorce, illness, and death lead to a lot of perfectly good items going into the dumpster. Supporting an oil burner

I owned one a long time ago. From my experience once it starts burning oil a lot of other parts are going to go bad. My advice is to scrap it and buy something else. You are losing compression, gas mileage, if it has any emissions control equipment they are all shot by now. You catalytic...
