Just drive it and enjoy it. You’re obviously not abusing this engine. But this is the reason I stopped owning BMWs, when rod bearings became a maintenance item at 60-90k. My last “new” BMW was a 2000 e39 M5. I still own a 1998 e36 M3 with 210k. Still fun to drive.

Yes! I’m not sure why we all aren’t running VRP? Prevent burning or ring build up in newer vehicles and to clean up older vehicles. There will is no downside.

Looks like a possible head gasket issue. Probably not oil related. As mention earlier, look at the sodium and potassium.

That’s a good price for a good oil!

To the OP: with all the mods, track use and oil temp why didn’t you bump up the viscosity?

Ive driven 2–3k mile trips and it’s fine. It’s plenty comfortable with A/C and cruise. Yet it’s not a quiet car at speed. But that wasn’t a concern of mine. I just wanted economical function and reliability!

I’m guessing you have a lifter going out. If that is the case no oil will cure it.

2010-13 Honda Fit. I have a 12 with a manual 5 speed. I bought it with 20k and it’s now over 158k. I needed inexpensive reliable transportation. Tires, fluids, front brakes, plugs and filters. A valve adjustment too. But a mazda3 is a good second choice.

Just did some research. I just didn’t believe that a normally aspirated 3.5 needed that much oil….but indeed there were two different 3.5 normally aspirated engines (still the same) but one required 6qts and the other 12!

Most K&N air filter users clean their filters way too often. They filter better with time…up to a point. 60-80k is what I do. Yet a factory paper filter every 20-30k is probably fine too.
