Looking for a "very" sticky grease

For clarification...I am not lubing the plastic stop caps. When they're new they work fine, no lube needed, they just don't last and simply break/crack and fall off. I have resorted to just lubing the bolt head the cap fits over (once the cap is gone). This tends to work but not for very long...

Looking for a "very" sticky grease

It's a very common issue. It's basically a very poor and almost comical solution by Nissan.

Looking for a "very" sticky grease

I have a 2002 nissan frontier pu. It uses steering stops (look like bolts) that have plastic caps on them. The caps continuously crack and fall off (I've even tried gluing them on). Some don't even last a year. They are getting harder to find and naturally getting more expensive. I have begun to...

    New Mazda CX-5

I'm on my sixth mazda. Currently have a 21 cx5 CE turbo (replaced a 16 CX5 Touring) and a 18 mazda3 GT (replaced a 14 Mazda6 Touring, wife thought the 6 was little too big for her, I loved it for road trips). Mazda oils have generally had a higher moly content. In all my NA Mazda's I've used QS...

New to me, 2017 Mazda 6 2.5L oil choice

On my seventh Mazda now and see no reason to change that in the future. The 2014 6 and a 2016 CX5 that I had, as well at the current 2018 3GT used 0w20 QSUD. Hardly any oil use at all during 5K intervals (1/4-1/2 qt). My new 2021 CX5 CE turbo is getting a diet of 5w30 Valvoline Advanced Syn...

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

I got 31.7mpg on my last trip. It was my best so far. Speed limits were 65mph and Illinois and Indiana roads were pretty flat. I'm sure that helped considerably.

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

I agree. I did a number of manual calculations and mpg increased anywhere from .5 to 1.5 mpg. Thankfully none were lower in which case I'd really be bummed out. Unfortunately you're at the mercy of the pump as to whether the tank is full or mostly full.

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

Recently returned from my second trip to Michigan and Ohio. Another 4K miles on the odo. Now have a little over 9500 miles in three months or so. I usually only average 10 K a year or less! Changed my route a little and traveled some non-interstate four lanes when possible. MPG was still all...

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

Yep, my tire pressures were 45PSI when I took delivery. I reset them to the specified 35 PSI before the trip. Tires still seem a little harsh compared to my 16 cx5 but I attribute some of that to the slightly lower profile tire and just a poor riding tire in the first place. I had the same...

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

I hope you're correct on fuel mileage. I would like to get every mpg I can especially when using premium fuel and it's current cost. I have to repeat this trip in August and not looking forward to fuel costs. I might plan a trip on Gas Buddy to see how much that might help. I tried numerous...

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

UPDATE: My Mazda dealer recently sent me two coupons for the first two oil changes. It said it was a thank-you for buying multiple cars from them over the years. It was good timing as I just returned from a 4K+ mile trip to Mich and Ohio. Cruised at 80mph+ thru Nebraska in 100 degree weather w/o...

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

Thanks for all the recommendations. It appears that Mobile 1 EP, Castrol Advanced (black bottle) or Valvoline Advanced seem to be a good place to start (all readily available) along with a Mazda OEM filter. As I said in my initial post, I'm a die hard Mazda guy. I've had a RX7 (SCCA ProRally and...

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

I'm going to stick with 5000 mile intervals. It has worked well in the past with my other cars. This vehicle will be used primarily for cross country trips. I just have to get in the habit of letting the car idle for a little while and allowing the turbo to spool down before shutting it off...

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

There are no special break in procedures. They just "recommend" varying speeds and avoiding full thottle acceleration (that part is hard to do) for the first 600 miles. There is a considerable performance difference between this and my 2016 cx5 GT as expected. The dealer only put regular gas in...

2021 Mazda CX5 carbon Edition w/ turbo oil

I have a one month old CX5 with a turbo. It's the first turbo I have owned but my 6th Mazda. Mazda pushed high moly content oils in my earlier cars (14 Mazda6 and 16 CX5). I used Quaker State Synthetic in both as it had the highest moly content for readily available oils. I'm leaving on a 4000...

Changes With Super Tech And Fram At Walmart

I agree. I was a city planner for 30 years and never heard of sales tax being used for tax increment financing. It was always property tax. Think of it this way, if word got out that store A, a few miles away, had a 6% rate versus store B at 8% the word would spread quickly (store A would even...

Priced right off the Snap-On truck

Back in the early 70's my younger brother got a degree in auto mechanics from a local junior college. Their instructors told them that potential employers would want to know if they had adequate tools to be considered for employment. I was working summers at Sears part time as a stock boy. Along...

Another sad excuse for motor oil.... Q oil

I wouldn't be surprised if they got hold of surplus bulk oils from multiple sources (maybe even some reputable companies) of various viscosities mixed it all together and filled a lot of plastic bottles. That could account for or loosely justify some of their labeling.

Craftsman radial arm saws best models

Just a heads up, there were some craftsman radial arm saws made in the early 80's that had a major safety recall. The manufacturer for Sears had to buy saws back for 150.00 and pay shipping per a settlement. The motor and craddle had to be shipped back in a postage paid box provided by Sears. I...

    HF Wheel Chocks

I have a collection of 2x6 and 4x4 blocks with 45* angle end cuts for the same reason....very easy to kick out. Used scrap wood so they were practically free. Also easy to store as they stack on each other and take up little space.
