Wife's assessment when the Wife dies before the Husband

Or we can see that men tend to be 2 years older than their wives. Men tend to live 6 years less than women. So on average a married man would die about 8 years before his wife. In the cases that doesn't happen those averages are still working against that man and he is probably near then end of...

Wife's assessment when the Wife dies before the Husband

Yeah the human brain does not like unrelated things seeming to affect each other. Like men dying sooner after their wives than women do their husbands must mean something. When really it just means men dont live as long as women on average, and that man probably just died when he was going to...

Wife's assessment when the Wife dies before the Husband

Weird it's almost like I used terms like on average and tends because yeah obviously it's not universally true. It is however reliable enough to make the fact that men don't out live their wives by much on average not a question to ponder but the logical extension of the data. There are men...

If thick oil offers more protection, then isn't cold oil best?

The issue is both sides of this debate have a point. If the oil is sufficiently thick to get you to the hydro dynamic area of the Stribeck curve then it's sufficient, and will lubricate the engine just fine. Two things also involved with that is bearing load and speed. A thicker oil will help...

Wife's assessment when the Wife dies before the Husband

Men on average live shorter lives than women. Men tend to be older than their wives. Men thereby would obviously tend to not out live their wives by much if any. (As most men die before their wives) It isn't a wonder at all but a product of statistics. In other earth shattering news 2+2=4...

Valvoline R&P, Honda K24, 250k miles, report on progress

The K24 cannot be praised enough. I have a K24 powered 2013 Accord with 236,000 on it and it runs like a clock. I run 5w-30 in Florida and it barely burns any. I fill it and dont have to add any between oil changes. I keep a close eye on it and give it the smell test for dilution as it's GDI. I...

Super tech full synthetic HM versus Mobil1 HM 5w-30

Your 06 TSX is a similar near identical engine with one key difference the lack of gasoline direct injection. (That is aside from the upgrades to make more power). The K24 is a phenomenal engine but bad advice to say don't bother checking the oil. All engines start to burn oil at some point and...

"Too long didn't read" it is just a way of saying to summarize.

Super tech full synthetic HM versus Mobil1 HM 5w-30

It's the GDI dilution issues in cold weather you have to be concerned with on GDI K24s. I full agree brand is meaningless so my advice was the ST as it's less expensive. I have a GDI K24 with 236,000 ish miles on it. All on shorter OCI's on house brand oils that are 5w30. The Buick with the...

Super tech full synthetic HM versus Mobil1 HM 5w-30

The factory recommended viscosity for the engine in question is 0w20. So by using a 5w30 it's already a thicker oil to compensate. I would think even a thinner 5w30 is still helpful although I do see your point.

    Honda vs Other small engines.

I have owned a myriad of Honda small engines in my life from dirt bikes, four wheelers, go-karts, pressure washers, to lawnmowers I have never had trouble out of any of them. I kept up on basic maintenance oil changes, spark plugs, oil filters, and so on, and they just keep going. My pressure...

Super tech full synthetic HM versus Mobil1 HM 5w-30

What I would say is go with SuperTech. It's made by Warren and has been shown to be a good product at a good price. The M1 may well be better but since you are changing the oil more often to get ahead of dilution issues you won't see much if any advantage from the better M1. The M1 probably does...

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

I don't have a picture but I just bought a gallon of 15w-40 supertech for my small engines. 4 stroke string trimmer/ edger, push mower, sons' go-kart, and my riding mower. I use 15w-40 because I live in Florida so the oil gets hot in all these air cooled engines, I prefer lower VII oils due to...

2003 Honda Accord 235k km Camshaft lobe wear. Could this be due to 0W-20 ?

If it is the K24 (2.4L in line 4) which I assume it is, as you mentioned a single valve cover, then cam wear isn't a widespread issue. I would go so far as to say there aren't very many if any wide spread issues with the K24. There is the VTV gear but even that isn't a super common issue. This...

How Old Is Your Lawn Mower(s)?? And How Many Hours Approximately?

16 year old Yard Machines with a B&S 190cc. I use 10w 40 synthetic usually Super Tech or Quaker State changed once a year. I think it has right at 600 hours. I live in Florida now bought it when I lived in Georgia so high temps, and long cutting seasons. Still runs good fires up on the first or...
