Bulk washer fluid at gas station

If you use straight water, or low level of methyl alcohol, bacterial growth is likely to occur if the washer system is not used on a regular basis. This growth occurs with heating and cooling of the water or liquid. When the washer system is eventually used, the water spray is dispersed onto the...

Bulk washer fluid at gas station

Be interested to see how many people end up with Legionnaires Disease as a result of that practice. Similar situation that happened all over the UK about a decade ago.

Or better yet, have them made in Canada. 😉

    Fram CH9972 vs XG9972

Maybe it is as easy, maybe it is not. A larger sample across various manufacturers from varying manufacturing regions would enlighten that question with quantitative and qualitative data. Now, I never said the Ultra was of "bad quality." I said that the quality of the Extra Guard appeared to be...

    Fram CH9972 vs XG9972

I never said I wouldn't use the Ultra, rather I said they are my go to filter. In fact, they are my preferred filter in all non-European applications. My major point of interest was: if it can be done on their "lower end" filters, then it should be able to be applied to their "high end" filters...

    Fram CH9972 vs XG9972

I am aware regarding wire backed media in comparison to cellulose based media. Essentially my point is more related to quality control. The same level of quality that is expected from a cellulose based media regarding pleats and spacing should be the same for a synthetic media which has a wire...

    Fram CH9972 vs XG9972

Well, seems to be quite evident thay the pleats are not uniform in spacing and angled in the US made Ultra in comparison to the China made Extra Guard. Somewhat more a point of interest that has been raised countless times on this forum regarding offshore filters and the manufacturers inability...

    Fram CH9972 vs XG9972

Extra Guard made in China, Ultra made in USA. Extra Guard have nitrile, Ultra has silicone gaskets. Both look fine, but the construction of the China made Extra Guard looks to be of better quality than the US made Ultra. That being said, I do use the Ultra in my daily Venza V6 AWD and will...

    Ultra-Power 57047 (Toyota OEM Clone?)

After ordering a bunch of parts, I decided to see what quality I would get in the Ultra-Power oil filters for a 2GR-FE I have in the stables. Set me back less than $3.00CDN. Made in China. Looks very well built. The gaskets are your standatd issue nitrile but same thickness as the Fram Extra...

Here is the latest acquisition: 12 x 5L 5W30 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and 4 x 5L 0W20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. $5.00CDN each at Walmart on clearance. Seems Walmart in Canada will no longer be carrying the Ultra line from Pennzoil. Not as good as the QSUD buy I scored last week, but we are set for...

    Can I use 0w40?

I would be more concerned about changing the dex-cool coolant in the 3100 to miminse water pump and head gasket failure (very common issue) than running a thicker oil like 0W40 or 5W40. 5W30 has been a fine oil for the 3100.
