I say use HPL 5w40 cold climate oil.

I've been using HPL NO VII oil for 3 oil changes now in my 6.6L gas GMC 3500. It burns about 1/2qt in 7,500 miles. I used Amsoil 5w30 signature series before. It didn't burn ANY oil with it. Not sure why it's burning the HPL. 🤔

At 130 degrees the fluid is probably a 40w oil.

I used Amsoil's low viscosity ATF. Maybe it's just an Amsoil thing I don't know. My transmissions from now on will get what the vehicle came with.

I learned the hard way when you stray from the original equipment fluid. These transmissions now have adaptive learning. When you change the fluid to something else it makes the transmission shift like 💩 I will never do that again.

Probably should have researched the truck before buying one. That's why I never bought one.....too many problems.

In my race car with solid roller cam Amsoil 20w50 racing oil was the quietest Followed by Pennzoil 25w50 and Brad Penn 20w50. I'm due for a rebuild now and will try HPL 10w50 next.

Sorry. Aftermarket oil additives like slick 50 etc...

I really liked his video on additives and how they increase wear. Same with mixing different brands. Plus He has Actually data to back it up.

This is easy.....don't use any.

I laugh every time I see someone say....I bought some HPL EC. Mixed it with 1qt of GTX, 1QT of Pennzoil, and 3 Qt's of Mobil. 🤣👀 Can you say additive clash and Super wear.

Just pick one oil and stick with it. You could be getting additive clash which causes more wear. Hell The Pennzoil seemed to work great.

Hmmmm. This has me worried now. My truck with the 6L90 just started to do the same thing. 31,000 miles.
