    Wix filters any good?

I noticed these in the local O'Reilly parts store. They sell for about the same as the Bosh Premiums. One thing I noticed is they have an anti-drainback valve. Other than that I have no clue how good they are. Do the Bosch Premiums have these as well? Jason

    Bob's Timken tests

Some oils such as Valvoline dino and even Maxlife seem to have weak additive packages in them compared to other brands, and therefore benefit from additives such as lucas, shaeffer's, stp, etc. Money is also a big factor in terms of how many additives such as moly are put into oils. Thats...

Castrol's website is the worst ever!

Well thats probably the case with their syntec oils but their GTX line is about as good as it gets for dino oils, that and Penzoil. For the oils that aren't actually their blends what company did the blending for them? Jason

    Bosch oil filters any good?

Hmmm, interesting replies What company makes the PureOne filters? How similar are these compared to the Bosh? So far the PureOne's seem to be the most restrictive. Kind of ironic seeing as though they are the ones that have all of those claims about having the freest flowing multiple...

    paging BOBISTHEOILGUY

Bob, thanks it'll be interesting to see how this stuff fares on the machine Do alot of places where you live not carry Restore or something? Around here, just about everyone including Wally World carry the stuff.

    Do you prime oil filter?

OneQuartLow, I know it's not a big issue, I just wasn't sure how priming an oil filter thats right next to the oil pan could really help shorten the time it takes to build pressure thats all. Jason

    Do you prime oil filter?

Ken, Hmmm, didn't know that about the passages. I do have a question though. Does priming the filter help those dry starts when changing the oil all that much? The reason I ask is that the oil filter on my Jeep Grand Cherokee is right next to the pan and I don't see how it would make much...

    paging BOBISTHEOILGUY

Is there a way you could do one of those bearing tests on Restore? Many people including me have had good results with it and it is also listed as an extreme pressure lubricant as well. Also what about testing it on an engine and how well it raises compression and smooths out the cylinder head...

    Do you prime oil filter?

When I change my oil right as soon as I dump the last quart of oil, I put the crankase cap back on and start the engine. I have never primed the filter simply cause I've never heard of it until I read this discussion. However, I think that if you start the engine immediately after adding the...

    Restore?

It says on the website and the cans that its an "extreme pressure lubricant" or something along those lines so it doesn't seem to be one of those additives like "smoke be gone" that may actually fix the problem but cause more harm to the engine (sludging up with this stuff) I have no idea just...

    Why is Maxlife so popular?

Well obviously Maxlife now isn't that great anymore but what about the GTX high mileage and Penzoil's high mileage oil? I think regular GTX has some moly in it but does the high mileage stuff have it as well and is it better or the best of the high mileage oils? Jason

    Bosch oil filters any good?

I don't hear alot about these filters. From what the box says they are part synthetic and part natural fibers. How do these filters compare to the rest of the ones out there overall? Jason

    Restore?

I used it in my old S10 Blazer 4.3 with 135k on it. It was running good before but after Restore I noticed I didn't have to give it as much gas going 75+ anymore. I was suprised. So far its pretty much the only additive that I think works and does what it advertises to to. Oh and welcome aboard...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer any good?

OneQuartLow, I'm not sure how flushing the engine then draining out the old oil right after you turn it off could hurt the lubicity of the new oil that you put in after that. I also thought the whole cause of the engine losing pressure was because some sludge got lodged into some oil passages or...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer any good?

OneQuartLow, I don't think I could drop the pan even with the axle at full loop but I could be wrong. Next oil change I might just go ahead flush the motor out again just to be safe. I doubt my pickup screen is that clogged since I flushed it out the first time. If it was clogged I would...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer any good?

Hmm guess my signature didn't appear. Hopefully it does now. In case it doesn't appear the engine is one of the magnum 318's and the Jeep is a 94 Grand Cherokee with 123k. Since Lucas didn't seem to do anything much less score well on Bob's bearing test I guess I will go back to using Restore...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer any good?

I originally got Lucas because a friend of mine recommended it to me. Right after I got my Jeep this past summer it started to lose oil pressure either after about 30+min of moderate driving or after a couple WOT runs. There were a couple of times where the pressure dropped to 0 and the engine...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer any good?

Is this stuff really that good or just more snake oil? From reading the testimonials on the company's website it seems to work quite well. Also what kind of elements make up this stuff? All I know is that it is REALLY thick because it took probably 30 seconds to dump a bottle in my Jeep. Jason
