    Almost done with Auto-RX application

Gas prices here in southern Indiana are $1.58 for regular. They were up to 1.75 at places like Shell for a few days. After the Iraq thing settles down gas prices will plummet, probably down close to a dollar a gallon where they should be. Jason

Frank, just finished 1st auto-rx treatment now I got a question...

I just finished the first treatment. During the treatment, I thought it conditioned the valve guide seals enough to stop the blue smoke at startup. Well I was wrong. The Jeep (5.2) still smokes a little. I'm on the 2k between treatment right now and will use another bottle when that's up. Will...

    Almost done with Auto-RX application

Haha that sounds like me when I was doing my first auto-rx treatment just recently. Taking the long way wherever you go, going across town just for that one certain fast food joint, etc etc Jason

    My latest Auto-rx experience!

Cool, has your oil pressure changed any as well? I just finished my 1st treatment and I no longer have blue smoke at startup from worn valve guides. Jason

Running synthetic right now--- question about Auto- RX

Darrenc, Yes I do have the 5.2. I also bought a new PCV valve recently that I still have to put in. I'm hoping this might be a cause for some of my oil consumption besides a possible intake manifold gasket. Jason

    Penzoil high mileage oil

I don't doubt Penzoil's dino oil quality necessarily, but it being a darker color just seems a little fishy to me like it may not have as good of base stocks or additive package as GTX HM or even Coastal. The only reason I tried Penzoil is that it supposedly has better cold start flow than GTX...

Toyota Sludge Monster V6 with 3,000 mile drain interval on mineral oil.

For one if your 3800 is pretty sludged up, it can still stand up very well to this kind of stress. This motor is based on an old 60's Buick V8 design that Land Rover now has the rights to. It is by far one of the most durable engines made, pushrod or overhead cam. It is also not inherently hard...

Running synthetic right now--- question about Auto- RX

Hey Mobetsy, good to see another Jeeper on here. I thought I was the only one from jeepsunlimited much less the only Jeeper until Ptown came here recently. I have 129k miles on mine, and it seems to be doing well. You may or may not have heard me ranting on the jeep board about my sludge...

    Bosch Premium Cut Open!

I just changed the oil and I was running a Bosch Premium. It had the same pressure build up as the Wix I had on before. Jason

    Penzoil high mileage oil

I just put some of this stuff in yesterday when I changed the oil. I noticed the color is noticeably darker than Castrol GTX high mileage as well as Coastal high mileage oil. What does this mean? Does this indicate the type of base stocks used? If so, which one uses the better stocks? Jason

    oil for chevy trucks

Castrol GTX 10w30 or Penzoil 10w30, and go 4k intervals. Those 2 are about the best dino oils around plus they have a little moly. When you get to 75k miles switch to a 40 weight oil from one of those 2. I don't think you'll need to spend the $ on synthetic for easy highway driving. Either way...

Toyota Sludge Monster V6 with 3,000 mile drain interval on mineral oil.

The reason for Camry's and Sienna's having a good reliability according to CR is they have no aftermarket following like the Maxima. That means the average owner is not going to drive the car as hard and explore it's limits like like a Maxima owner, or much less a Z28 or Trans Am owner. I...

Running synthetic right now--- question about Auto- RX

Ptown, Glad you made it over here. Hopefully you'll stick around here in the future as you'll learn the truth about oils and lubrication. By the way, I'm 94gclimited from jeepsunlimited. I use this screename on here because I found this site on camaroz28.com through Patman (he's a regular here)...

    Brother's 4.3L V6 BLEW UP today!

Interesting The only leak I had on my old 91 S10 4.3 was a small oil leak. There was never an intake manifold gasket leak on it or anything like that. My grandpa had it before me from brand new to 102k, and it never gave him any problems then either. Jason

    Gunk Motor Flush results

I did 2 treatments back to back of KW flush last summer and another treatment mid fall to my sludged Jeep. The 2 treatments did in fact help as I didn't lose oil pressure anymore like I did beforehand. But then late December all that sludge that was in the engine ended up in the pan from the...

    oil for autorx treatment

I used Coastal High Mileage oil for my rx treatment I'm doing right now. It was cheapest AutoZone had at 99cents a quart. Jason

Best Dino oil for cold weather climate?

For cold weather starting, I've found cheap ole Coastal to do very well in 20 degree weather. Only reason I used this stuff was to do an auto-rx treatment cause it was cheap. But I went from GTX HM 10w40 to Coastal HM (high mileage) 10w40, and the first cold start there was a noticeably quicker...

Just switched from Carquest Premium (Wix) to Bosch Premium in my little experiemt...

In response to my pressure readings using the Wix filter before, I just changed the oil and got a Bosch Premium. The guage now varies when at a constant rpm, particularly highway speeds. From what I can tell the pressure readings seem to be maybe slightly lower on average. This is an auto-rx...

WARNING..There is NO by-pass on Bosch Premium!

Uh oh I just started an Auto-rx treatment using a Bosch Premium. The one I have is the base size for a 5.2 Grand Cherokee. I guess I'm gonna have to keep a close eye on the oil pressure then if it's true these things don't have bypasses. I've always thought they were one of the better filters...
