I have a 2012 f150 5.0 coyote. I discovered that it's warm idle tick was an exhaust leak at the y-pipe. Also, the cold start rattle was fixed by switching to 10w-30. I've used Motorcraft, Mobile 1, and Fram oil filters. None of them made any difference for anything.

The AC Delco PF63 is 178 sqin. Same as the Walmart MP 10575.

I'll likely be using this, or it's AC Delco equivalent, for 7-8000 mile oil changes

It seems to me that the Philtop oil filters are the same construction as the STP filters from autozone

My truck calls for 5w-20. I use 10w30. No noticeable drop in mpg. But I live in FL.

Idk all the specifics of your motor but I suspect valve train rattle. It just takes time for the oil to get pumped up to the lash adjusters and cam phasers. If it were an issue with the rod bearings you'd see glitter in the oil when you drain it into a pan. It wouldn't hurt to try a 10w-30 to...

The oil filter above was from a 06 CRD and at 90k miles and its only problem has been a blown injector seal. I also have a 05 CRD with 230k miles that's been through several repairs and still runs good but definitely showing it's age.

The bypass isn't gonna open unless the oil is cold and thick or the the filter media is packed full of crud. Just make sure the engine/oil is warmed up before before you go pushing it on the track.
