Questions About a Simplistic Theft Protection System Idea

Thx to All for having answered. The idea of dummy dashboard switches - say even in a logic pattern of some having to be on vs some off... or mebe just a single switch - that has intrigue. The idea of having it start but sputter is an interesting one, too. What intrigues me about the Littelfuse...

Any reason Honda would deny warranty coverage on this 2019 Civic R transmission?

I know the question was re warranty claim... but if it were me, I'd tear it apart and rebuild it (if parts were available). That way I'd be sure it was "right". I suspect you'd need a 20T press.(Harbor Freight one .... cheap).

Questions About a Simplistic Theft Protection System Idea

Good idea, re the momentary contact switch, and as others have said, on the wiring to the starter solenoid (by way of a relay that pulls-in). Several of my vehicles are manual... and none have start-stop... 👍

Questions About a Simplistic Theft Protection System Idea

Canada is facing an incredible raft of car thefts, mostly in Central- and Eastern Canada. Cars get stolen, put into containers, and shipped to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, mostly, via the port of Montreal. I'm on the west coast... still an issue, but somewhat less so... My question: if...

Borg Warner Style Manual Transmission Synchronizers video

I don't disagree... but what I'm saying is that "BW-style" synchro's are used by all kinds of mfrs. Borg Warner, if I'm not mistaken, invented it in the '40's. One other type is the ZF-style synchromesh...

Borg Warner Style Manual Transmission Synchronizers video

Caveats: i) Not a fancy video, and it's a mite long (I encourage folks to stick with it to the end); ii) English is not the Presenter's first language; he speaks clearly albeit with an accent; and iii) Probably the Presenter ought to call the synchro rings "blocker rings" ('cuz until they...

    Worst dipstick ever?

Everyone's sweating this (almost) for nothing. You leave it overnight and make an allowance for a rise due to temp. You gain experience what that rise is with semi-dirty oil. On a roadtrip with brand new oil, well, you start at full and any drop should be minimal due to boiled-off moisture 'cuz...

Anyone use pads on their foor jacks?

Somewhat related... my jack has a 13/16" hole that the rotating pad fits-in to. I also have a 4"wideflange (I beam) section that spans rocker panel to rocker panel, with a short length of cold-rolled 13/16" round barstock welded to the flange of the I beam, midspan. This allows me to put the...

Recommend me a reliable petrol vw engine

I have heard, too, that the SOHC 2.0 and the 5 cyl variant of same (2.5 litres) are very durable engines, albeit rather thirsty. Brother in law has had a 2.5 Golf w/ automatic... for some 11 or 12 years. Zero prbs. Mileage? I don't know his total miles driven (from new)... Nice car though.

New vehicle purchase: ‘24 Mazda 3 Hatch 6MT

@cammyfive79, How do you like the shift quality, cold versus hot? How 'bout the ability to shift smoothly, first to second (due to the fairly significant gear-ratio step between the gears)? How 'bout the adequacy of bottom-end torque (and, indeed, the overall power of the car)?

Rental car review - 2022 Toyota Camry SE AWD

All it takes is 10-15% of the doorskin sheet metal area to be covered with CLD self-adhesive tiles. CLD is "Constrained Layer Damping"... a butyl rubber/thin layer of aluminum ("foil" or sheet) self-adhesive "sandwich". So easy for the Mfr to do. Also, possibly, butyl "rope" wedged between...

    Mazda 3 - 1st gen review after ~3yrs

There were three engines available in 2012 if memory serves: 2.3, 2.0, and 2.0 SkyActiv. The latter had just a 'wee bit less of a compression ratio versus current North American SkyActiv-G's... which are 13:1... 'cuz the 2012 used second generation sheet metal, and the firewall could not...
