2011 Ford Explorer - recommendations sought for brake parts and LCAs

Caliper bracket bolts are sometimes available aftermarket from Dorman or Carlson/IBI but not complete line. I stock OE. Most of the other fasteners are dealer only. Standard rule in our shop is before we quote any repair I take a perusal through the R&I instructions looking for one time use...

2011 Ford Explorer - recommendations sought for brake parts and LCAs

Just to add to BD Cardinals comment, essentially every brake, steering and suspension fastener on a domestic vehicle in the last 10-15 years is one time use per the service manual. The exception sometimes is caliper bolts. I stock a 6 quart oil box full of brake caliper bracket bolts for GM...

    Indie EV repair shops?

Some EVs have an OBD II port, some do not, they are not required to the OBD II compliant because OBD II is part of an emissions standard that EVs obviously dont fall under since there is no gas engine. Tesla began using a standard 16 pin data link last year as opposed to their proprietary ones...

    Indie EV repair shops?

While I dont specialize in EVs I certainly do service them. I have customers with Teslas and Polestars and bolts as well as just about every brand of Hybrid. I hold the ASE L3 certification. Bottom line is 80 percent of the car is still just a car.

IBI Carlson is about the biggest supplied of caliper parts. In all likelihood the parts in all 3 boxes are the same.

    Why Do Vehicles "Wear Out"

Remember, every single component on a vehicle has a design life. Every component on a vehicle will wear. Generally when a customer decides to stop repairing a vehicle it is for one of a few reasons. The biggest one here in the northeast is rust that is compromising the structural integrity...

    Grip edge extractor set

I have a set and they work but would not be my first choice for bed bolts. Without knowing your application, most pickup beds bolt to the frames with long through bolts and clip nuts. When I remove a bed if the bolts are seized or the nuts are spinning the easiest way I have found to deal...

Any Toyota techs here? Wiring question.

I have never seen a labor time for a wiring harness replacement, thats a job that usually is a clock hours job. IIRC on Highlander, the engine wiring harness disconnects under the dash and then gets pushed through the firewall, but it has been a few years since I have had the powertrain out of...
