Are Firestone filters decent enough to go 7500?

I have seen it done on police cars through apathy and incompetence. Some had high miles, all were abused, all kept running.

Any contractors being hired to fight ISIS yet?

Some of the foreign oil companies had contractors. BP among them IIRC. I don't think it worked out well for them.

    The Greatness of Simplicity

Wonderful stuff......kind of the antithesis of BITOG BTW.

    $20k dollar crew cab 4X4

SHOP AROUND! BE PATIENT! I found my 2005 F250 SD, (only a supercab) 4x4 with only 54K miles in January of this year for $15,500. Smoking deals are out there, but you have to be patient. Depending on your locality, 4x4s can be tough to find in the winter. Also depends on options you want, mine...

How deep of a puncture can a tire take?

Run it. Its fine. If it leaks, it is no longer fine and you need a new tire. Dont put anything on it, it will probably fall off, and will ultimately not prevent a leak anyway.

    Quickstruts and my 2007 Escape....

Sounds like you might have some worn end links too.

    Startup Knock

Never know about this stuff. My wife's Pacifica was tapping at 50K miles. Bad followers. New follower/rocker arm assembly on one cylinder head and she's good to go. It seems to use oil though. 5.5qt fill, I topped it up with maybe half a quart in about 3300 miles. When drained, only a little...

Anyone else fed up with today's country music?

I like it all. However, for more of the old school feel, try some Rodney Atkins or Josh Turner. [censored], last I checked Merle Haggard was singing about drinking, kicking out footlights, drinking, women in faded jeans, drinking, etc all through the 70s and 80's. Also, Justin Moore is my...

    Super S Synthetic ATF?

Yeah, they stopped making SP for a little while and recommended LV. Then a bunch of transmissions went south very quickly, and they started making SP again.

    Super S Synthetic ATF?

Ford had some problems recommending Mercon LV for the Torque shift. Bad idea using anything other than Mercon SP in my opinion. That transmission is pretty picky from what I see, and it is an expensive piece of gear. I just did the 60K service on the 5r110 in my F250. I bought 9qts Mercon SP...

    Transmission Fluid suggestions requested

I have driven countless miles in panther bodies with AOD-E and later 4r70/4r75 transmissions. The AOD-E's were pretty sketchy. The 4r70s were stout transmissions, even when abused pretty hard. In my personal 4R70s, in a Mercury Grand Marquis and an F150 I just changed the trans oil with Castrol...

    MY Corolla CVT

I understand CVTs, in fact I had one at one point. I am not sure I like the durability/performance ratio as advantageous at this point though. My opinion, FWIW, is that any four speed or better auto is all you need to a point. I will go one further and say currently, six speed autos are about as...

NAPA Silver Oil Filter - How Many Miles To Run ?

For sure it will hold up to the max specified by the OEM for miles and time.

    B&S Opposed Twin oil choice

I dont think it matters a whole lot. I have been running 15w-40 rotella in my Kohler single. Those engines usually dont care. If a 10-40 can hold up, a 15w-40 will be much better.

Taurus Police Package--any updates on durability?

I tell you what- the Impalas are pretty darn good. WAY faster than a crown vic, and the department I was at didnt take care of them at all, and they held up pretty well. The Impala is a pretty good car if you ask me (I never would have said it a few years ago), the 3.9L cars went pretty well...

Why do police vehicles use such [censored] tires?

I never had any problems with RS-A's on Crown Vics. We ran some firestone police spec stuff too. Not sure why everybody thinks they suck. They are well tested by Michigan State Police. I guess as far as ride, noise etc, nobody cares. All we care about is grip, braking, durability and high speed...

    41TE, 2009 Grand caravan

Just serviced the trans in a new to me 2009 grand caravan. 110K on it, factory filter, so I am pretty sure it hadnt been serviced. Trans oil didnt look too bad, neither did the filter. Typical accumulation in the pan/magnet. Filled her back up with Castrol ATF+4 and a new filter. She's running...

    Prepare for (Weather Related) EMERGENCYS

I keep my generator full and try to keep about 5 extra gallons of gas, a bunch of extension cords and some MREs around. I keep my F250 4x4 about half full of gas. A gallon or so for the chain saw is always handy. So far we have made it through a few extended outages without much problem. I did...

    Imminent Terrorist Attack Warning

Wow....when did we invade Libya? It never happened. What planet have you been on?I must have missed that. To call Iraq stable is also a bit of a stretch- when you have to nerve gas your own people to keep them in line it doesnt seem to lend itself to how most folks define stable. We did mess...

Fast food workers plan Thursday strike f

If they worked as hard going to school as they do "fighting" for higher wages, they would already be making $15 an hour.
