Finally got to try Clay Dot...results are in!

Call me vain and silly, but I personally like the aesthetic of Alliant's powder flakes. The other ball powders look like finely ground up metal shavings...alliant looks like little clay discs. And the colorful dots...how cool! Totally childish, but it's my preference!

    Most "powerful" .40s&w FMJ?

It's really hard to say whether certain brands load their target rounds hotter than others. JHP is the optimal defense round and youd have better luck comparing those since its a utility round. After that the most effective is Flat Point, and then round nose. The only way to make your target...

Finally got to try Clay Dot...results are in!

Beautiful sunny 44 degrees here today and got a chance to go out and shoot. I have been cooped up doing reloading waiting for this day to test loads for a few weeks. Clay dot has by far been my favorite. Among my loads tested were 9mm and 380 with various powders. Guns tried today were a...

    the search for. 22 ammo...

I picked up around 400 rds yesterday and another 250 last week. Spent maybe $40 between all of it. Not too hard to find any more, but still worth grabbing when you see it.

Any Negatives with Shooting Aluminum Cased Ammo?

Seeing kaboom injuries are a lot like looking at crime scene photos. It will scare you straight into being a responsible reloader. Aluminum cases come nowhere near my bench, and only one powder jar is within reach, and my hopper is always marked with what powder is in there. I did have a piece...

is .357 mag the best defense round?

Revolvers are nice to have for simplicity, but single stack 9 is where it is at, IMO. Shield, carry every day and shoot often. Has never had a failure.

    The economics of reloading.

A guy on another forum posted something similar to this. My reply to you op is the same, If you're reloading purely for economics, you're in it for the wrong reasons. Same way you change your oil. Is it cheaper? Yep. But it's also therapeutic. Change your oil on a beautiful breezy day with a...

    Anyone with a Smith SD9VE/SD40VE?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cx3cGMR9SaA A late night tabletop I did a month or so ago. I ended up selling it when I saw a S&W 39-2 for sale. You don't see those but maybe twice in a lifetime - and that's if you see a lot of guns. Ultimately the SD shot low and I'm not a 40 guy. It is a...

Picked up a maverick 88 today.

^ ^ ^ So I guess if a guy has no problem not knowing where it was manufactured or assembled, and it runs like a top, the 88 seems to be the ticket. Note I also have a slightly shorter Mossy 500 Slugster, which I also enjoy, and the action is about identical, I almost want to say a tad smoother...
