Something like this. Actuator - Honda (14310-5A2-A01)

It's NOT the Cam chain tensioner it's the vtc actuator. (specify the locking pin inside of it) Oil had little to do with it unless its dirty.

Mine was NOT DI and it happen. Just poor manufacturing.

If the diagnosis shows its the vtec actuator it will be refunded. I went around and around with Honda this. Stay persistent and they will fix it.

The VTC locking pin breaks. Easy fix. See what the dealership says.

Best bets visit a dealership. They will diagnose and hopefully agree and repair

Dont think you need all of that, Just the VTC "gear" system. Honda may warranty this.

No, The VTC "gear" is replaced. Its a whole unit. Like a gear inside a gear. There is some good youtube videos on it.

There is a fix. I got mine fixed it never came back. Check the dealership for a warranty extension.

Oil is too cheap compared to engines to push it too far. Low tension piston rings changed the game. I'll go with the guy with experience in this day in and day out.

Speaking of trust are you going to trust a mechanic who's been in the business for 20 years (certified), rebuilds engines sees hundreds of cars a year or some "bobistheoil" guy that says 10000-mile oil changes are fine that the oil pump is or is not this but won't help you pay when the engines...
