I tried to get order's to the Iowa back in the 80's. Didn't happen. Was fortunate enough to get order's to a Spruance Class Destroyer (DD-977) and later to an Aegis Cruiser (CG-56) The San Jacinto is still on active duty. Those were some really good years.

They sure don't make decks as strong as they used to. I finally had to replace the deck on my 1972 Wheel Horse because the original was just too rusted out. Fortunately I found a good used one, vintage 1989 iirc, for $75 on Craigslist. I feel your pain! (original poster)

I drove from Norfolk. Va. to San Diego, Ca. for a class "C" school while on active duty in the Navy in 1983. 3 months later, drove back to Norfolk. Had a 1977 Ford Thunderbird back in those days (1983). Lots of fun! I would love to do it again.

I prefer ONSTAR thru our friends at GM. Google's GPS is ok in a rural setting, but not so good in an urban setting.
