The only reason I can see why one plug wouldn't work properly over another brand of plug, would be the internal resistance, and or too big of an air gap. You can check internal resistance by using a multi meter. The shorter the air gap, the stronger the spark .,,,

Use any SN rated oil you want. Dexos anything is just what gm recommends, because they charge oil mfgrs money to put the name"Dexos" on their oil bottles. Dexos is not a oil ingredient.,,

I agree with the others that say ditch the 1/2 inch drive ratchet. Use a 3/8ths drive, and if you think your going to over tighten it, use your weaker hand to tighten it. You could find out what the torque spec is then again, don't go nuts tightening it.,,,
