Updated List of Dedicated MTF Fluids

The first sds I posted was about yacco bvx 1000 75w-90, another gl4/5 dual rated fluid and marketed as suitable for m/t and axles, basically the same "signature" (for lack of a better word) as motul gear 300 75w-90. I wanted to ask if it could be considered as an alternative to motul? Are you...

Could Castrol Edge Extended-Performance (EP) 0W-20 SP be the best 0W-20 out there?

Sorry for the late reply. Huh, basic google fu? :p It was heavily "documented" by infineum (with the P6780 by the way) as soon as the Acea started publishing their new sequences. Funnily enough, the product page for the hi saps P6780 is still missing.

Updated List of Dedicated MTF Fluids

@MolaKule, since you seem to recommend the motul gear 300, do you happen to know if the fluid below would be suitable for a manual gearbox, t-case as well as for axles, where it is recommended 75W-90 gl4/5 in gearbox and t-case, and 80W-90 gl5 in axles. By looking at the data sheet, the sharped...

    2015 BMW N20 X1 UOA 5K MILES NON-EURO OIL: ROUND 2

Okay, let's play. M1 fs 0W-40. Euro oil, but lacks the proper bmw approval... It should be fun.

    M1 FS 0W40 vs. Castrol Edge 0W40

Likely the SV series if from infineum, but we can't be sure. Aren't xom known in the industry for their "ability" to tweak some packages and get their product approved by the oems? @Foxtrot08 pointed out in some thread that they don't rely exclusively on infineum. Maybe at some point they...

    Castrol 0w-40 LL-01 ?

Indeed, I've already read the afton handbook from top to bottom, which I could find on bitog before, but thanks anyway. It's just that while poking around I came across the link from the German forum above which gave some hints on the new bmw oil specification that was being discussed here.

HPL Euro 0w20: run it in a BMW B48, or in 2014 Accord?

As i said before, the US/Canada are incredibly lucky to have a company like HPL to cover their lubricant needs. I don't know if anyone is familiar with the whisky world, but Hpl is like the "compass box" of the lube industry. They are pretty open about what they put inside the jug/bottle, and...

    VOLKSWAGEN 502 00 / 504 00 / 508 00 / 511 00 APPROVAL LISTS

@weasley, once again, thank you very much for the detailed responses. It gives a little glimpse of how the "industry" works. Some very interesting points made here. Obviously, if one's seeking for official approvals, i don't see anything wrong with using any product made by the "big players" or...

    M1 FS 0W40 vs. Castrol Edge 0W40

If an oil get the hpl "approval" after being "looked" at their lab, is it safe to assume that it actually has more "science" behind it than the competition? :ROFLMAO:

    VOLKSWAGEN 502 00 / 504 00 / 508 00 / 511 00 APPROVAL LISTS

@weasley , thanks for the explanation, it was very helpful and refreshing. @kschachn why not? I don't know if any insider (@weasley once again) can disclose/confirm it but are you sure that when for example lubrizol were transitioning from their oldschool "lz213XX" to the more recent "pv25XX"...

    VOLKSWAGEN 502 00 / 504 00 / 508 00 / 511 00 APPROVAL LISTS

It may be splitting hairs but when you used to buy the same oil for the last 3-4 years, and all of a sudden you notice that the label went from nothing but euro approvals to some api "sp" added to these approvals, it implies at least a change in the formulation, you know...the marketing gimmicks...

    VOLKSWAGEN 502 00 / 504 00 / 508 00 / 511 00 APPROVAL LISTS

@weasley, you clearly know things that the average bitoger doesn’t. I don't know if this is appropriate, but I wanted to ask if you happen to have information on some recently marketed oils and which have both "api SP & 504.00/507.00 approvals (and also 229.XX & LL-04 and a new opel one)". From...

New(er) Mobil 1 formulation, can anyone translate into layman's terms?

Not necessarily. According to the "ghs", and when it comes to "hydrocarbons", it is only mandatory for a supplier to list the ones with a viscosity of less than 20 cst at 40°C in the sds.

Ravenol RUP 5W40 with Liqui Moly Ceratec

Come on, everyone knows that a premium cable will make the signal silkier, warmer, cleaner (you can also insert any non-measurable adjective of your choice here). In the same way that extra flavorings will enhance the taste of a perfectly crafted whisky(ey). And i'm not implying that because...

    Full-SAPS A3/B4 A40-style Euro lube with a twist...

A few minor tweaks to increase the hths value to 2.901cP would make it an oil that naturally "meets or exceeds" the newer A7/B7 spec. 🤔

    2015 BMW N20 X1 UOA 5K MILES NON-EURO OIL: ROUND 2

In europe, and most likely in other parts of the world, mobil super 3000 xe1 5w-30 and formula v 5w-30 do have ll-04 approvals. Also, m1 Esp lv 0w-30 is ll-12fe approved.
