Hydroboost keeps leaking - need ideas..

The hydroboost started leaking on my dad’s 2016 Duramax recently. I debated rebuilding it, but ultimately decided to replace it with a new Bosch unit from RA. The Bosch is 100% brand new and is the exact same thing (as far as I can tell) as the new GM HB at about half the cost. I did some...

Help / recommendation to buy a cheap string trimmer quickly

Do you have any need for a portable generator? You could run your corded trimmer off the generator and have an excuse to buy something you might potentially want more than another weed wacker?

Help / recommendation to buy a cheap string trimmer quickly

How does the head attach? Can you put a universal type head on it? I have fixed line heads on my gas trimmers and use .155 line. These are not available anymore and hard to find, but I have a few put back… I’ve been considering a battery powered trimmer…. If a fixed line head will fit it.

    Fram Ultra XG2870a virgin c&p

What are you putting a trans filter on? I had a remote ATF filter on my old 2007 Tacoma. I was using a Napa 1269 on it. I planned to use an XG8A on it at the next change but ended up trading it in on a Duramax before I used the XG8A. I still have the XG on the shelf, I might buy another 3/4-16...

    Fram Ultra XG2870a virgin c&p

If you clog a filter that big using it as a trans filter, your trans is cooked anyways. A healthy trans doesn’t make much in the way of particulates/debris. That filter would likely need changing due to being rusty before it would get restricted enough to be bypassing…. That’s my opinion anyways.

I wasn’t advocating that he should get an 04+ F150, but if he’s gotta have an F150, I’d rather put my kid in a less reliable but safer car any day of the week. Im not a Ford guy, but a properly cared for 3V 5.4 is capable of 200k+ miles. I wouldn’t knowingly and purposefully put my kid in a...

    SuperTech MP10158 For Toyota 4Runner

It’s fine to keep changing at 5k, more oil changes are better than less. But with the filter being the pain that it is on these, I’d change the filter every other time if you choose to keep changing the oil at 5k/6 months. I’ve dumped the oil and refilled the engine with 6 quarts and left the...

Power Sports - Post your latest oil change

2016 Viking VI Bought in March 2024 used with 798 miles and 56.2 hours on it. It had a brand new battery on it and appeared to have just had an oil change, both the filter and oil looked new when we picked it up. There was no oil consumption in 500 miles and ~100 hours of usage. I used my oil...

What oil can be used in a side by side engine?

Does it have a wet clutch? I’ve been running 5w40 T6 (JASO MA/MA2 for wet clutches) in our Yamaha SxS’s. We have 4 in service currently, three Vikings and a Rhino. Two of them have over 4,000 miles on T6.

    SuperTech MP10158 For Toyota 4Runner

The above OEM filter has 11k miles on it and 2 oil changes. I’ve done several 10k plus runs on an oem filter (several times on a single oil change) and they always look fine coming out. As long as your engine is well maintained and clean I’d have no issue doing two 5k/6 month oil changes on one...

    SuperTech MP10158 For Toyota 4Runner

Only in severe service. I maintain that if it was mine, I’d change the oil and filter and then change the filter every other time. I used my oil extractor on our 2016 the last time I changed it and then pulled the drain plug, the extractor took 14 minutes to pull the oil out and left 3 to 4 oz...

    SuperTech MP10158 For Toyota 4Runner

If it was me, I’d just get an OEM filter and use it for two 5K/6 month OCIs. These 5th gen 4Runners only call for an oil change every 10k/12 months anyways. If you don’t change the filter, it will take 6.0 quarts (vs 6.6 qts with a filter change) to change the oil in a 5th gen V6 4Runner.

I’d sell that thing and get a 16 year old something safer. The 2004 and up F150’s are much safer.

2005 Silverado auto trak 2 fluid replacement options

I’d use Maxlife if it was mine. I bought Auto Trak 2 the last time I needed some, but my local Napa keeps it in stock for pretty cheap. We’ve got a Trailblazer that calls for it, it currently has Auto Trak 2 in it, but it’ll likely get Maxlife next time since I have a bunch of it on the shelf in...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I’m thinking I’ll try it, if VRP cleans the it up to a substantial degree then I’ll probably just keep using it. I was looking the other night, VRP actually has a higher HTHS than the 5w30 M1EP that I’ve been using. VRP 5w30 has a HTHS of 3.24, M1EP 5w30 (SP) is 3.13, and M1 EP HM 5w30 (SP) is 3.10.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I might try a run or two of VRP in a 2010 Tacoma that has some pretty heavy varnish. It has had an annual OC with M1 EP or M1 EP HM for the majority of its life. It only has 62k miles but it gets short tripped a lot (often a mile or less) and idles a fair amount. It burns no oil and runs great...
