    Battery Question

The small hand held conductance testers are designed to provide an estimate of how many cold cranking amps the battery can deliver, along with overall state of health. It is an interesting technology to read about, but it is not perfect. Since it sounds like the battery holds good voltage and...

No more If I'd. Dialysis for your oil

This doesn't sound like a great idea. It looks like a bypass filter you use every few thousand miles rather than just adding a permanent bypass system. Rather expensive for what you get. Like many crowd funding projects, it appears to be a solution in search of a problem and not very well...

    Toyota Denso 90915-YZZF1 Cut Open

Looks good - a unique design and I don't think we've ever seen one that had any internal damage or manufacturing flaws. I do find it strange that the Denso First Time Fit aftermarket filters don't use the same design.

    Help with oil filter

WIX 57035 or FRAM PH8170 are both listed as compatible with the Kohler 25HP EFI engine. The NAPA Gold part would be 7035. The Kawasaki engine uses a different part number - check the oil filter manufacturer sites for the full application guide. They are rarely incorrect.

Those trying to save environment, wind up hurting it

This group clearly has an agenda that they are pushing. No matter what we do and how much we advance towards cleaning up emissions and reducing dependence on oil, they will always find something wrong because no technology is perfect. There's always some kind of trade off. Currently the...

NAPA PROSELECT 27151, CUT OPEN TORN!!!

Wow... town filters from Purolator, Champ (with unknown history), and WIX all in the same week. This is all starting to make me think wire backed synthetic media is the way to go. Then again this is a low end filter on a high end truck... I'll never understand saving $5 or so (if that) for a...

Premium guard Kia/Hyundai 26300-35503 CUT OPEN

Looks exactly like the OE filter, except for the lack of the Hyundai logo looking down in the can at the bypass valve. I suspect Premium Guard is having MANN+HUMMEL Korea make this particular filter. The OE filter can also be purchased very cheap from Rock Auto under the Auto7 brand. Comes in...

    2017 Honda Pilot-oil filter advice?

WIX (also sold as NAPA Gold), FRAM Tough Guard, or FRAM Ultra are all good choices. K&N is overpriced and not as efficient as other filters on the market.

    Hatred towards Fram

The FRAM bashing is for one simple reason: Visually, their construction quality does not look as appealing when they are cut open (except for the Ultra). The fact that FRAM's filtration efficiency outperforms nearly every competitive filter doesn't seem to matter to some people. Neither does...

What is your favorite premium oil filter?

FRAM Ultra. Great build quality and efficiency... and a good price. NAPA Gold would be my #2 choice. I'll probably be sticking with Tough Guard's for a while though because I can't go over 7,500 miles for warranty reasons.

Oil drain bolt is rounded off

How it happened: In the past it was over torqued by impact tools, or someone in the past used the wrong size wrench or socket on it causing the tool to slip and round off the fastener. Why it happened: Stupidity or laziness. Likely both Why it was re-installed that way: See above What to do...
