STRANGE login behaviors (not here though)...

I might add that it is an "appropriate" website- I'm researching for a new washer-extractor for my home and I signed up on a laundry-related site... The problem may be some man-in-the-middle sleazery, the more I thinks about it the more it smells like it... but why such a unique site to fool...

STRANGE login behaviors (not here though)...

...anybody ever have a disappearing username and password problem when logging onto a website? I mean, when you click the "Log In" button and it magically wipes away what you've typed in? This continually happens to me on only one website, whether WinXP or Fedora 11 Linux, whether IE or FireFox...

    Amsoil 5W-30 HDD Oil:

I've used HDD in my '95 Civic daily driver for about two years now- I change it out about every 7,500 miles or so. I could probably go quite a bit more on it but Hondas are prone to fuel dilution per Terry Dyson (he mentioned it in at least one post a few years back). I really like the fact it...

    How many members use gloves?

I use nitrile gloves fairly often when I change the oil, etc.- I do like them. I've wondered before why they don't call the nitrile gloves, "cyanide gloves"? I reckon they would not sell too well, kinda like Aronia berry aka Chokeberry... But IMO the nitrile ones are most durable, at least for me.

Fuel filler's on the left, genius!

Yeah, my '77 Chevy pickup has fuel tank inlets on both sides, my '95 Civic is on the left as is the old '75 Dodge Dart parked out on my back patio. My '65 Dodge Coronet 500 had the filler behind the license plate but I didn't care much for it there because the cap seal had to be PERFECT or you...

Record high temps in the Northwest

It hit the century mark up here in Lynden today. Never been this hot on record here in the Pacific Northwest AFAIK. Ever! As to Lake Warshington- it is beautiful and I agree it is relatively clean although it has not always been so (I remember when Matthews Beach was closed due to pollution in...

    Anyone have weird dreams?

Sometimes Benadryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride) will cause me to have some notably out-of-round dreams. Codeine used to do it to me also but not so much any more- then again, I very rarely take any. One recurring type of nightmare I have is falling off the wagon; I'm on my 25th year of...

    WEP hangs on

Yeah, the coffee shops where I frequent run WEP most likely for compatibility reasons since they must do what they can to "one size fits all". But I run WPA at home with about a 59-character password so I'm probably safe for another hour or two. And I STILL come across a few unencrypted...

US to ban most pocket knives?

This could eventually also mean I would no longer be able to use a machete to brush line(s) for surveying... not good.

US to ban most pocket knives?

Before you know it, "Leatherman"-type multi-gizzies will be banned. And when that happens I WILL have a nuclear meltdown! What is this world coming to? Shoot, a pocket knife is an absolute essential IMO.

    Chain cleaner

I usually use kerosene for chain cleaning- I put it in one of those nifty clamp-around-the-chain-and-turn-the-crank-type cleaners I got some years ago- like bakechad has- and it still works good (wonder if they still make it???). Kerosene works for me, YMMV.

    Cast iron cookware.

Shoot, I haven't used my stove in I-don't-know-how-long. It's 99.99999% microwave for my single self. But whenever I use the stove for frying steak, etc. it is always cast iron. I clean mine by boiling them out with some salt thrown in. That's how I was taught. I NEVER soap mine because of the...
