Looking for new tires, considering BFG Advantage Control..thoughts?

Currently have Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady 235/50/VR 18 on ny 2015 Impala. I am not a Goodyear fan, but I freaking love these tires. The handling is beyond expectations and they are quiet and smooth. That being said I can save about $300 for a set with the BFG. Both tires are roughly a 65K...

    Tire Recommendations and Experiences

Sorry for any confusion...my "Excellent Subaru AWD" comment was to address the "not everything else" part. Braking and control are best for the dedicated winter tires in the winter, the Forester will do good in terms of going from a stop and most stability control circumstances. Since the OP is...

Intake valve cleaning methods on GM 3.6

Our 2015 Impala has 115K miles and I would like to run something through it for any necessary valve cleaning. I have done the 44K platinum about 10K miles ago but what is recommended here? I believe this engine gets a tiny bit of injector spray due to valve timing but I may be mistaken. I...

How much transfer case play is acceptable

Sorry for late reply, I will try to get a video or the actual amount of chain stretch by counter rotating the outputs of the TC.

    Tire Recommendations and Experiences

Premium, or XT Premium? A turbo motor would make a big difference. Doesn't matter if it a Forester or a Prius, spirited driving and heavy braking will wear out tires quick, you need to get the traction from somewhere. Just because you don't hear screeching and squealing, doesn’t mean the tires...

    Tire Recommendations and Experiences

@Automaton25 Another request for your trim level on the Forester, maintenance schedule, is that the turbo XT? With 26K miles on a 70K set, I agree something is amiss. Could be road conditions but I would consider this near the end of the spectrum aside from very spirited driving, but have no...

K&N air filter after 2.5 years pic.

What happens when you wipe the front of the throttle body, just in front of the butterfly? When I wiped off a decent layer of dust, that was the end of using K&N for me. YMMV.

Racing sim wheels on a budget

We are looking to upgrade from the Logitech G920 to maybe even the G-Pro. The 920 at it's price point is very good, but looking for more precision, this is for X-Box and PC. Budget is under $1K, more in the sub-$800 category. My concerns are if thr G-Pro is around $7-800, then it opens the...

    24” Bike for daughter

Check out the Giant Liv series. These are designed for a woman's frame, my daughter loves hers. Maybe even add a more upright handlebar stem.

How much transfer case play is acceptable

2012 Yukon XL 6.2 AWD. Single speed T-case. Yukon has 145K, OE T-case, new front and rear driveshafts, I rebuilt the rear a year ago, about .006" backlash, rear is smooth, quiet, no issues, tires are Michelin Defender and are roadforce balanced. I'm getting a decent vibration throughout the...

Why is a Hellcat rear geared higher than my Grand Marquis?

You listed a large, cruiser family sedan and a very high performance muscle car. You also have to factor in torque curves, intended usage, as well as the technology avail for the time period, mainly the available transmission. The Grand Marquis is a simpler design, starts in 1st every time...

This is why I won't consider a Ford, Chevy or Toyota P/U

A new Laramie? I believe that trim is mid $50K to start, still $$$ though. I would likely go with a 3/4 ton but don't want a hemi, not too terrible though. A used Diesel from the big 3 or even a Tundra would work. I'm not going to pay $60K for 2 good front seats and a contractor 2nd row, but a...

This is why I won't consider a Ford, Chevy or Toyota P/U

Sure, why not? Times have changed for sure..it's nice to have a toy hauler that you can use for other road trips, saves from needing another vehicle. So much tech in a P/U for just about every scenario, even the spacious rear seating, but they continously miss the mark with fixed rear seats.

This is why I won't consider a Ford, Chevy or Toyota P/U

This feature is avail on Laramie and above. I do wish it was avail on all trims but the fact it's avail on the Laramie is nice.

This is why I won't consider a Ford, Chevy or Toyota P/U

It's 2024, and they still don't get it. I would love to transition from a SUV to a P/U but I want to use the truck for vacations and general road trips, and I care about my 2nd row passengers. Maybe some are fine without it, but it's obviously easy to do..... Reclining 2nd row seats. RAM can...

K&N air filter after 2.5 years pic.

No way I would ever use a K&N filter again on any motor I want to keep long-term...just MHO. For drag racing, sure...but that fine trace of dust that gets through cannot be good. Had one on a CBR 600 back in the day, then on my Envoy. When I saw the very thin layer of dust on the carb intake I...

One piece chrome lug nuts for 17 Impala?

I bought a 23MM impact socket for these reasons. Our Impala lug nuts are swelling also. I keep a spare breaker bar and 23MM socket in the trunk of the Impala for any roadside tire changes just in case I need both sizes.

    Tire recommendations for 2005 Tahoe

Defender LTX is a quiet tire, decent in snow. I would grab some steel wheels and get a set of Bridgestone Dueler DM-Z2 winter tires for the season. Having owned both, the DM-Z2 defies laws of physics and has good traction even on ice. You don't even realize there's snow between the tire and...

    Any tips/tricks for R&R a 6L80 to replace converter?

I agree and it makes sense labor-wise... and I feel comfortable performing this, however I have no experience inside a 6l80E, and it's currently my daily driver so while being mechanically inclined, there's a small amount of intimidation. I have pulled a couple valve bodies on 4L60E's and done...

Tapping/knocking sound immediately after oil change. Rod knock, piston slap, valve train ticking, or else?

Yeah, I would definitely get the correct oil in there first with a new filter.....fingers crossed.
