    Quality of older cars

Fords and Mercury's of the '90s were ALL [censored]. When you compare them against the Japanese cars of that day, they were junk in regards to dependability. You cannot look at the few exceptions that went a billion miles....look at the millions and read the reviews of the day...the truth lies...

    2006 and newer Hondas - a disappointment

I question the OP's motives. He uses a lot of circumstantial anecdotal "evidence" to show his hatred toward Honda. He makes a lot of claims that make no sense. Here's one: "the dealer fought my friend when he wanted to replace his engine with a used one". The OP sounds like someone young, and...

GM, Ford teaming up for new transmissions

Too bad Ford and GM are not developing independently. Getting together kills the kind of innovation that only comes from competition. I will say though, that more speeds will make for smoother driving, smoother more sustained power transfer, and better gas milage too. More speeds is the best...

    Average time before problems

My 6 year old Yaris is coming up on 153,000 miles, and so far I've spent $0.00 on repairs, and still have the original factory brake pads. Burns no descernable oil. All I do is preventative maintenance. The most important thing to get the longest longevity in a car is to buy the right make and...

    yet another toyota airbag recall

I doubt any of the car makers make their own airbags. I suspect they all buy from the same few makers of those bags. I suspect the real culprit is the airbag company, although Toyota might have not tested it first....yes, all makers get these types of recalls.
