As far as I can tell all of the media or atleast 99% of it was still attached. The engine still sounds smooth as it always has.

    2021 Odyssey oil spec

All this talk has me thinking as well. My 21 Ram with the Hemi and the Wife’s 21 Jeep GC 3.6 both spec 20 weights. I bought the 100k extended warranty on both. When that expires I’m highly considering switching to 5w30 on both. I really don’t see a downside. Maybe it won’t make a difference but...

Lake Speed Jr video - Ignore Factory oil specifications!

Has anyone here ever been denied a warranty claim from the manufacturer due to using an oil viscosity not listed in the owners manual? Both of our daily drivers spec 20 weights 5.7 Hemi and 3.6 Pentastar. I’ve been kicking around the idea of using 5w30 in both. I know there are plenty of high...

2021 Elantra Out/In - STP S45028 The standard STP for this car is less than $6 which is a great price. It comes with a new crush washer and the plastic drain plug for the oil filter housing. Every other filter is usually double that price or more. For 5k OCI’s they can’t be beat.

    What's everyone's favorite 0w-20 these days?

I hadn’t seen that but I don’t doubt it. There’s a few flaws that pop up but there’s been over 10 million of this engine produced. A lot of those are in the Promaster & sprinter work vans that get abused. Not to mention the mini vans and fleet vehicles that get less than stellar maintenance. I...

    What's everyone's favorite 0w-20 these days?

The only vehicle we have that specs 0w20 is the Wife’s Jeep GC w/ 83k. I’ve used several different brands since new, have currently been running different flavors of Valvoline the last 4 oil changes. I’ve got one more jug of Valvoline EP left for it then I’ll probably try Napa 0w20 in it for a...

    Kia Sorrento 2.4

I’ve had 2 2.4’s. One was a 2016 Santa Fe we bought new. I started using 5w30 from maybe the 2nd or 3rd oil change. I also bought the “up dated” oil dip stick which moved the full marks up the stick to “allow” another 1/4-1/2 quart. We traded it in at about 100k and never had a bit of trouble...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

I don’t doubt it. Even where I live in SE Ohio near the WV/KY border it can vary wildly. In the rural area I’m in the small dealers have to compete with small shops so they have to be reasonable on their prices. Drive an hour to the large cities of the area and prices are considerably more. The...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

Wow, I was super nervous I’d screw something up so I psyched myself out of doing it myself especially with the extended warranty lol I think it had about 75k when I did it last fall. I’ll do it again at about 125k and just do it myself. There’s enough info and videos out there.

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

It was $889 for everything, I had to go dig out the receipt. The filters and fluid aren’t that expensive anymore or atleast what they were a few years ago. I know there’s a couple of Mopar stores listing them for high prices still online though which is ridiculous. I remember pricing it a few...

Yep, just had the intake gaskets done last month finally along with a tune up. Had to replace the throttle position sensor and idle air control valve. And gave her some new struts this week. Besides fluids/maintenance etc , what I mentioned above is all I’ve had to do to it.

She’s been in the family since new. When my Wife’s Grandmother passed in 2021 it was given to us. It only had 24k on it then. She’s my commute car now, hoping to put many miles on her!
