    Motul 300V 5W40 UOA 2011 BMW 328i xDrive

The 0W isn’t a concern in general but especially with ESP X4 since it meets Porsche C40 so it has to undergo track or simulated track condition testing. It’s also 3.8 HTHS. 300V 5W-40 is probably fine but it’s a race oil and you’ll have to change it at shorter intervals. You can run the Motul...

    New mobil 1 0w40 viscosity

If you have VAG/MB I would prefer the ESP X4 0W-40.

    Motul V300 0w-40 competition

RUP is fine, I don’t see the attraction of RCS. It’s only better if you think you need full SAPS. The Motul you run now is fine also.

VST or 300V 5W-40, or a lighter 5w-50 (not RL) if you have fuel dilution issues. Redline 5W-50 has almost identical viscosity to Castrol 10W-60.

    Ravenol RCS 5W-40

You can get RUP, which is similar enough.

    Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W-40

I'm not sure it's the same oil exactly but certainly it looks extremely similar. Given the X4 approval, one would guess that it could have passed SP but it was released originally before SP and API is probably not a concern for Porsche/VW/MB AMG oil.

    Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W-40

It's fine, the X4 has SP and same levels of Ca

    Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W-40

I agree, what is there not to like about it? It's a 3.8 HTHS 0W-40, meets Porsche/VW/MB specs, has impressive viscosity retention and very modern additive package.

    Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W-40

It’s the successor to X3. X4 is a C40 oil in reality. Porsche just decided to let it be tested against A40 probably because of dealers and logistics.

    Motul V300 0w-40 competition

No, they haven't used LL01 for over a decade in Europe (they use LL04 even if no OPF). TIS highlights LL17FE+ for all markets as of right now. I would need to find an EU VIN and pull a 2017 or so B58 engine car manual to see what was originally recommended. Edit: I did find a 2022 EU B58 3...

    Motul V300 0w-40 competition

N55 was specified to use 3.0 HTHS FE and was indicating 3.0 HTHS LL12FE optional in EU years before B58 even existed. You didn't post a manual or TIS page, you posted a screenshot from the engine technical training / marketing document (which are notorious for mistakes, btw). I'm just telling...

    Motul V300 0w-40 competition

N55 was using 3.0 HTHS LL01FE almost for its entire life. There is no way B58 was "designed around" 3.5 HTHS. BMW knows exactly what standards are going to be adopted when. BMW TIS tells you everything you need to know. Samples of S58 oil from 1200 mile break in show the factory fill is around 9...

    Cybertruck RWD is out

Range and power delivery are somewhat positively correlated in an EV, as the lower impedance you make the entire system for power delivery, the lower the losses which benefits the range. The longest range EVs all have big packs. I am sure their engineers are also strongly optimizing for range...

    Motul V300 0w-40 competition

It is clear that B58 was designed for FE oils based on the coatings used. Even the original B58 used IROX coated bearings and they were back specified to LL-01FE in the US. TIS shows it as the recommended oil for even Gen 1 B58. There is no doubt that BMW had this transition in mind when...

    Motul V300 0w-40 competition

No one really knows what BMW was doing but every BMW now uses 0W oils, same for almost every other mfg. I don’t think 0W is inherently worse and we did see with LSJ’s testing at HPL that M1 0W-40 lost less viscosity than Castrol Edge 5W-40. The M1 ESP X3 and X4 hold viscosity extremely well and...

    Ravenol RCS 5W-40

Check out their updated RSS 10W-60. They claim on the .de site that they have made a 10W-60 with no VM somehow. Oil club DE says it's got a ton of mPAO but still.

    Ravenol RCS 5W-40

Ravenol has VMP and VST that are similar but lower Ca. VST is API SP and VMP I think has around 1700 ppm.

Mobil 1 ESP possibly using diblock polymer

It’s on the bottle I have also. I have no idea how but they seem to be allowed by Porsche to qualify as a full SAPS oil. My suspicion is always that Porsche wants one oil so lazy dealers don’t need to keep FS around.

Mobil 1 ESP possibly using diblock polymer

I don’t, but I think it’s shown well on the RU and DE oil clubs in informal tests for volatility. TBH I don’t really care about SA as I prefer as high SA as possible and not concerned about Noack for a Euro oil with approvals. No oil has been effective in preventing the need for walnut blasting...
