    Amsoil Upset with FTC.

I am sure Amsoil products are great, however, every time I hear somebody praising/defending an Amsoil product I take it with a grain of salt because in the back of my mind I think they might be an Amsoil dealer. I guess it goes back to the MLM perception thing.

    AFE air Filters

Very true! I saw a filter company that actually includes a little plastic squirt bottle of oil specifically measured for one treatment for that specific part number filter. That is a great idea to keep people from over oiling.

    Amsoil Upset with FTC.

I am an engineer so when I hear the word "scheme" I think of "schematic"...it merely means a plan/design to be followed. However, the "street" definition of scheme must conotate something more sinister.

    AFE air Filters

Oiled air filters are not "bad". It's making and applying oil badly that is bad. When oiled air filters are made and maintained properly, they are excellent.

    Amsoil Upset with FTC.

So does that mean Amsoil's marketing model is a legitimate MLM scheme?

    Grease for Propeller Shaft

You just keep on pumping in the new grease until the old grease seeps out of the seal. I just did this last week on the props of my AWD Land Cruiser. The old grease was gray and my new Mobil 1 synthetic grease is red. So I just kept on pumping in new grease until the grey stuff no longer came...

    AEM Dryflow

It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have a velocity stack since they don't have one engineer in their company.

    AEM Dryflow

The AEM dryflow is made of polyester. Get a cleaner that will not damage polyester and you'll be fine. I gather since many clothes are made from polyester that most clothes washing detergents will work just fine.

Boy will we feel stupid if they send this thing to SWRI and it ends up working! haha.

    AEM Dryflow

I would estimate that 90% of all name brand aftermarket filters have some type of velocity stack. Maybe 40 years ago the concept of a velocity stack was new, but now, it's so common that most companies have it but don't even bother to mention it.

For real credibility, they need to send a couple of those things to SWRI to test. www.swri.org Lube Control sent in their FP60 and they are a micro sized business. [ September 10, 2006, 03:59 PM: Message edited by: biomed_eng_2000 ]

Traveling vehicle what would you buy?

I would get a FJ Cruiser but for cheap and big a Suburban is hard to beat. I think Suburbans are the absolute cheapest vehicles per pound. You mentioned reliability as being important but then listed only American SUVs. I wouldn't list them as reliable but the good thing is that when they...

2005 Toyota Sienna with FP60 and LC20 mpg improvements

I gather too hot (100+ F) is bad for mileage too. But maybe that is because most people run their AC at that temp. Has anybody ever seen an ambient temperature vs mpg chart? I am guessing 50F to 80F (Spring and Fall seasons) is the optimum ambient temp for best mpg. I respect Scientific...

    MTF and LSDs!

I am not sure if you have a Quaife diff (also helical gear) but they have a FAQ section regarding recommended lubes: www.quaifeamerica.com/technical/faq.htm

    Grease for Propeller Shaft

I know it's not a 4Runner, but according to the factory manual, my Land Cruiser calls for non-moly grease in the props and moly grease in the steering knuckles.

    AEM Dryflow

That's what makes these $35 ebay/$250 AEM "filter on a stick" systems so great... -if you want higher flow, you can slap on a $40 K&N filter. -if you want better filtration, you can slap on a $40 AEM filter.

2005 Toyota Sienna with FP60 and LC20 mpg improvements

I will answer in 10 months. Care to wait? I may lose interest by then, haha. But seriously, after running errands today, the 1 month average is now at 21.7 mpg. I'd run FP60 if I didn't save any money just because it keeps the engine running smoothly and supposedly cleanly. My wife is a sales...

Yeah, I am pretty happy with the 5% improvement, after all, it's a pretty new car, only 12 months old.
