Squirrelly Handling after New Rear Tires

Check your tire air pressure. I got new tires on a Jeep once and the handling went to crap. Turns out the tire shop put way too much air in the tires and the Jeep was bouncing around on every bump. I dropped the pressure and all went back to normal.

Need Guidance re (hopefully) Non-Synthetic Motor Oil for a '99 Camry L4 (5SFE) Sludge-Prone Engine

I think this is a case of "oil is oil". Just change the oil every 5K miles and move on with life.

    Quick grammar question

aren't As if the performance and handling of the (car) aren't exciting enough, "performance and handling" are two items. replace with "paint and stereo" and aren't sounds just fine. Mentally we group performance and handling into one idea.

    2022 Camry 2.5 fuel dilution/viscosity selection question

There is a lot going on in this engine. The cooling system is complex as well. So far it is running great in my RAV4 with good power and good mpg. With mixed driving, I got about 23 mpg on my 2010 2.4L CR-V. I'm getting 35 mpg in the 2024 2.5L RAV4 (LE gas version, ECO mode). It also tows my...

Toyota / Lexus A25A-FXS Hybrid engine oil questions

I have the 2024 Rav4 gas version. Pretty much the same engine and it calls for 0W-16. I'm running 0W-20 in it without issues. I've been running 0W-20 in my CR-V for 14 years and it's still going strong at 150K miles, so I'll probably stick with 0W-20 in the RAV. I am curious... Is there a...

Oil for new CanAm Spyder ?

I'm not a Rotella fan. I tried T6 5W-40 in my Honda ST1300. Drained it out after 1500 miles due to really clunky/notchy shifting. Switched back to Mobil1 (now Valvoline) and no problems after over 6000 miles on the oil. Some people really like using other flavors of Rotella in motorcycles...

Oil for new CanAm Spyder ?

Looks like a 40 weight motorcycle oil. I would probably use Mobil1 Racing 4T 10W-40. It is a motorcycle oil with the proper certifications. 5W vs 10W doesn't really matter much if you are not riding in cold weather.

    2016 CBR600RR - 10w40 ?

Well, M1 Racing 4T has always worked well for me. Shift quality was always good. Never a problem with it. Currently I have Valvoline in my 1300 because I hit a great sale on a case. The next oil change I'll most likely switch back to M1 Racing 4T. I also got a killer sale on the Castrol...

What should I do with "extra" oil?

If you're going to try Valvoline R&P, I would use it full strength. Use the QS for top up. That 5W-40 would also work good in a lawnmower or generator.

    2016 CBR600RR - 10w40 ?

That is great oil! Honda switched their user manuals for many of their bikes over to 10W-30 starting around 2010. My ST1300 was spec'd as 10W-40 when it first came out in 2003. Now it says 10W-30 for the 2012. No engine changes were made. Although the user manuals for both my bikes spec...

What happened if you've poured too much oil into the engine

Oil capacity = 4.8qts. Meh... Bottoms up with the whole 5qt jug. Oil capacity = 4.3 qts. I'll pour in 4.5 according to the markings on the jug, verify ok with the dipstick and call it good.

doing oil change without filter change but sending for UOA to check on filter?

I've done a quick spill and fill at 5Kmi and both oil and filter at 10K miles on my 4Runner while I owned it. The oil after 5k miles still looked pretty clean and the cartridge filter after 10K miles looked good too. Toyota's OCI is 10K anyway, so no problem for the filter. The 4Runner oil...

    Engine break in MPG

It takes a few thousand miles to break in. Also, you need to learn how to drive the new vehicle efficiently. While driving my new Rav4, I look at the MPG indicator. Sometimes if I drive a tad faster, the transmission will shift into the next higher gear and MPG goes way up. For example, if I...

When oil is low, is it consumed faster?

Typical oil pans are made from stamped metal and are wider at the top than at the bottom. Therefore, by observing the dipstick, it would appear the oil level drops faster as the level gets lower.

    2021 RX350 OCI recommendation?

I've done 2 year OCIs on my vehicles during the pandemic. Everything still runs fine. Lawnmower regularly goes 2 years OCI. The issue would be if it was repeatedly short tripped for two years. That could lead to a buildup of fuel, moisture, sludge, etc in the engine. Now that you own it, a...

    2021 RX350 OCI recommendation?

I'd start changing oil at every 5000 miles on the odometer. Easy to keep track of. On my 4Runner, I did a spill and fill of oil only on the 5Ks and then oil and filter on the 10Ks. The cartridge filter always looked clean after 10K miles. I'll probably do oil and filter on the 5Ks and 10Ks on...

2025 Camry, oil for gig work duty cycle?

I have a 2024 RAV4 (gas model) with the same A25A engine. I'm running 0W-20. Just returned from a 1100 mile round trip, mostly expressway, and the car ran great. No issues. The user manual says for extreme use or high speeds, a higher viscosity may be used and 0W-20 is listed as acceptable...
