    Toyota Oil Filters

I use the Toyota filters on my Rav4 (and previously, my 4Runner). The filters are reasonably priced at the dealer and they throw in a new crush washer. Not a bad deal for me. Toyotas have a reputation of lasting hundreds of thousands of miles, so the filters can't be all that bad. I use...

Average car Overfilled 1 qt. anyone ever see this cause a problem?

There's at least a quart in circulation while the engine is running. Also, I doubt that the specified fill level is touching the crankshaft when the engine is stopped. With these two assumptions, one quart over shouldn't be a serious problem while the engine is running.

Average car Overfilled 1 qt. anyone ever see this cause a problem?

I've never had a problem with a slight overfill. I never put in an entire extra quart, though. That seems excessive. My Rav4 gets a new filter and a full 5qt jug and it ends up being just above the full line. The CR-V gets a new filter and pour in 4.5qts based on the markings on the jug and...

My oil level is going up??? Really need help

That oil look really clean and clear to me. The only fluids that could add to the level are fuel and coolant. You say it doesn't smell like fuel. If it was coolant, the oil would look cloudy or frothy when you check it after a run. Seems to me that it is just a day to day measurement...

1 Year and just 33 hours on oil - Change? Mitsubishi 4G64 2.4L Engine

I would usually say "Change it". Then I realized that I change my lawnmower oil every two years. I put about 30 hrs on it each year, for a total of about 60hrs over the two years. I change my generator oil every few years unless I have an extended power outage and rack up some hours. My...

    2025 Camry filter size question

I have a 2024 Rav4 with practically the same 2.5L engine. The oil looks pretty clean when I change it at 5K. I don't see a reason for a larger filter if the oil isn't dirty. I used to change the oil on my 4Runner V6 every 5K and filter every 10K. It was a cartridge filter and it always looked...

fiber washer vs metal crush washer

I like these washers. Never had a problem with them. I'm actually using the Toyota fiber coated washer on my Honda motorcycle. Are you sure you are using the proper torque on the bolt? I haven't had one of these come loose yet in over 100K miles on my Toyotas. Also, make sure the oil pan and...

Reuse oil that has 500 miles on it, safe?

I've reused oil before. I had a leaky oil filter on my motorcycle that needed to be changed. I cleaned out the pan and cleaned around the filter and drain plug. Drained the oil into the clean pan, replaced the filter and poured the oil back into the engine. No problems. You just need to keep...

    How to wash helmet straps?

For lots of things like this, I just use hot water from the kitchen sink along with a little Dawn dish soap. Soak it good and work it in. It always takes grease and whatever else away.

Help me decide - Gasoline and Diesel storage choices

How much gasoline do you really need? You only have one vehicle that uses it now. If you need to evacuate out of town, I would store enough gasoline to make sure you can drive a reasonable distance away (taking traffic jams into account). This would be my biggest worry for hurricanes. Maybe...

Help me decide - Gasoline and Diesel storage choices

You're asking the wrong question. It's not "What can I use a Kubota for?" You should be thinking "What can't I use a Kubota for?"

Change it or let it ride a little longer?

The FJ is similar to the 4Runner. I used to do a Spill and Fill at 5K and a full oil and filter change at 10K miles. The dealer specified 10K mile oil change intervals on 0W-20. The filter was a cartridge type and always looked clean when I changed it. An extra few hundred miles won't matter.

Topping up a fill with a different brand

I don't worry about it. I do pour in the open jug first and top off with the new jug. It helps avoid the problem of old oil hanging around the garage for a long time.

Meh... Make it detachable. I remove my AirHawk pad when it rains. Hasn't been a problem.

    Rebel 300 drain fuel tank

Not sure specifically about the Rebel 300, but most modern motorcycles do not have a drain plug. I believe the 300 is fuel injected, so the only openings in the tank are the fill cap, a vent and the fuel pump outlet. You'll have to siphon most of the fuel out, pull the tank, flip it and drain it.

    New tires for the R1200RT

Storage environment has a lot to do with the aging of tires. Garage kept, stable temperature, out of the sun, will drastically increase the longevity of the rubber. I've run tires older than 5 years. I've replaced tires younger than 5 years. As always, Your Mileage May Vary. I replaced my...

    The Valve Experiment

I use an AirHawk seat pad on my seat for longer rides. It works pretty good. The trick is to run it almost flat, so that it squishes and distributes the air around all the uneven body contours. If it feels like you are sitting on top of a cushion on top of your seat, you have too much air in it.
