2009 Honda CRV Recall - Rear Frame Corrosion?

How did that pass the state inspection? Anyone wondering if state inspections are valuable for catching safety issues, this is Exhibit A. showing a big, glaring miss.

Texas about to do away with auto inspections

No inspections of any kind here IF you drive a so-called antique auto (25 years +) which is what I do. Love it. Oh and the irony of the lot of you wishing for more government "intervention" on this web site is delicious.

Totally mainstream items you have never had the time of day for.

Music. It just doesn't interest me, any genre. I know, unimaginable.

Automatic emergency braking literally saved my cars tail from a brick wall.

Backing into a customer pick up space ('22 Q7) with foot on the brake, and not paying attention, the car slammed to a stop about 4 feet from a brick wall. I thought I'd hit something, so I got out with my tail between my legs, but found nothing.

I'm trying Market Basket brand batteries.

I buy name brand alkaline batteries, but they don't last long in anything, both AA and AAA. So I switched to a so-called brand supermarket line because they couldn't possibly be worse and of course are cheaper. Is it just me, or are batteries now built to a much lower set of performance standards?

Cars you had that were supposed to be junk but turned out great for you

My mother's '75 Vega was the most reliable car by far that she ever owned. The only rescue mission I had to make was when the alternator went out. Even with that, after a couple of hammer blows and she was able to drive it home. Edit: The 3 speed auto trans was absolutely seamless when...

Does air pressure trump speed rating for ride quality?

Will a soft cheap tire, maybe something like Walmart's bottom feeder line, Douglas, offer a softer ride, or does the air pressure rule when it comes to ride quality? If you do the very unscientific squash test (sitting on a tire, unmounted) the Douglas collapses but the Falken Ziex on the car...

85 Sentra 1.6l, 151k, unknown miles on oil

Yeah...I read it more than once and it still doesn't make any sense to advise not using what the OEM specifies but OK I guess, whatever.

    Cops and traffic law enforcement

You can get away with anything here. I drove my winter beater all season without an inspection sticker and was never even given a second look. I still can't believe my luck. (Needed new cats which essentially totaled it.)

    WM battery date code

How about this: The date code is applied by the manufacturer, taking into consideration build and shipping time. So, being early in the month for sure they weren't built a few days ago, correct. I know there is a lust here on this site by some to "expose" Walmart for alleged shenanigans. But...

85 Sentra 1.6l, 151k, unknown miles on oil

Why avoid what it calls for like the plague? It calls for 3682. There is nothing "better" about your choices. I have a '93 and the 3682 are still readily available, but not at Walmart anymore.

    Hyundai "OEM" from Walmart, dissected.

Maybe someone can explain the differences and advantages, if any, between louvers and holes in the center tube or is all minutiae like pretty much everything we discuss here . Box:

    Hyundai "OEM" from Walmart, dissected.

I was hoping to report that it was "watered down for Walmart" but this filter is impressive. (I couldn't figure out how to add text.) Note those big beautiful louvers! Base plate too has large holes. Tight, evenly spaced pleats. Silicone valve we all love. Cute little H Easter egg visible...

    Swollen lug nuts?

That's striking given your location. Here, I almost never see it on Toyotas. Fords though almost on a daily basis, yes.

How to test a lithium coin battery

OK, so testing underload is the key, I gather. The irony is that I bought a blister pack of 12 off brand batteries about 8 or 9 years ago for $1.50 from the bargain table at Ace Hardware and one of those cheap and long outdated batteries fixed my issue. Contacts were clean incase anyone was...

How to test a lithium coin battery

I have a device which takes a lithium coin battery which has been acting erratically for at least a year. Back then, I tested the battery which showed 3V, which is the correct amount so I assumed the circuit board was cracked and just lived with it the best I could. Well, last week on a lark I...
