    Used vehicles from Maine

MA is Massachusetts not Maine so a bit better of a choice but not really, go south, not north of NJ. What would make you even consider there's no salt use here or corrosion?

Three Ultra-8 (Nippon) ADBV "failures" in a row

Back when Fram consolidated their filters for Nissan from PH3682 to the PH3614, I looked for alternatives. I thought I'd struck gold with the Ultra-8 line from NAPA, only $5 or so and as a bonus silicone ADBV, can wrapped in plastic and the pretty blue Nissan OG paint scheme. The problem...

Customer had me grease his boat lift.

A guy at work got a $50 tip for checking and adding air to a man's car tires. Yes, $50, I witnessed it. Co-worker asked are you really sure? he said yes. Probably the most inexplicable and bizzare thing I've seen there and I've seen it all.

    Crank bolt torque

On a 3MZ-FE, I didn't torque the crank bolt (to 162 ft-lbs.). I just gave it a full-send with an ordinary impact (20 gal. compressor). I doubt that the gun put out anything close to that required amount. What are the odds of it coming loose?

    Where a 7317 won't fit

I have yet to encounter a single instance in which a 7317 filter won't fit, i.e., because of clearance issues, in place of a 7706. Are there any applications that require the smaller 7706 due to its size? I suppose the engine could rock in its mounts and possibly hit the frame, but other than...

2016 Honda CR-V rear dif. had no crush washer on the drain bolt

That would be rather absurd, don't you think? Well, in my world it is. Why would be steal a used washer with no value when he can just steal one from stock? All he had to do was to put back your old one and pocket the new one.

Just like on here. https://www.walmart.com/ip/TriboDyn-TRI-EX-SAE-5W-30-Synthetic-Oil-Gallon-Bottle/485103014 $66 for a gallon. Oh yeah.

Florida sales tax on Auto for out of state buyers

You'll have to pay your home state's sales tax at the Florida dealership. Of course, you get credit for that at registration time. That was my experience but it looks like it may be your home state isn't as aggressive as mine, as some above drove without paying. Now that I recall things, I also...

    FWD vs RWD mowers

Eliminate the thinking and just get an AWD one. And yes, don't worry it's gas, not the electric that everyone on here hates. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Toro-Recycler-22-in-All-Wheel-Drive-Personal-Pace-Variable-Speed-Gas-Self-Propelled-Walk-Behind-Mower-21472/315052301

What would those skills be? Making ice cubes? I'm trying to connect what you said with your pics.

Skid plate charge: $6 at Pronto

It's a Fit. This not a rant or complaint about an experience at a quick lube place. I always do my own oil changes. I did not go to Pronto. The previous owner did. The paperwork is what I found in their stash of receipts. I was surprised to see that charge and since I never have my oil changed...

Skid plate charge: $6 at Pronto

Hey! I do my own oil changes, YOU relax and read the original post. I wanted to know if this was a common practise - not a debate about profits or skid plate definitions and whether or not I should DIY.

Skid plate charge: $6 at Pronto

I was going over the paperwork for my "new" Honda and found a receipt (2020) from Pronto where they charged $6 for presumably the extra labor to remove the skid plate to do the oil change. It's just a flimsy thing held on by 6 screws with about the footprint of a microwave oven. Has anyone ever...

Honda duplicate key hack for smart key fob

I spoke with the key guy at Ace Hardware who was willing to listen to my schemes and said that my hack (cheap key with a chip as a dupe from the proximity key) won't work as far as he knows. Then I asked him about the $20 eBay fob, to which he said it may or may not work but for a $30 charge...

    Clutchless shifting a manual

(Before anyone goes crazy, YES I do enjoy shifting a manual and do have automatics in the other cars; this only a question.) Is it harmful to shift a conventional transmission without the clutch? Assuming of course there is no grinding. It's not a smooth operation unless I suppose you shift at...

    Towing Service > 100 miles?

Waiting for the link to the "free" battery benefit offered through AAA; Google shows nothing. I have their Premier plan and have scoured the benefits details and came up with no such thing except that they come out and that the installation is free.

2000 miles roundtrip to pick up a part instead of having it shipped.

I'd do it. Sleep in the car as an option. Done that many times in my younger days. Don't buy into the gloom and doom "$50 hotel" scenarios if you go that route that the hand wringers on here cook up. This happened in 2019, but I paid $50 for a random hotel room in rural SC which was quaint, with...
