    Economists see 'booming economy'

News flash: apples != oranges. PBS != NPR. "NPR (National Public Radio) is a private, self-supporting nonprofit media company with hundreds of independent radio stations as members. NPR receives no direct federal funding for general support."

Bull. NPR gets funds from private entities, private contributions, etc. They DO NOT get tax dollars.

So the US just experienced a Somalia incident in Iraq

PILL thinks EVERYTHING is the "left's" fault. Iraqis kill Americans: Not the gunmens' fault, but the left. Too much aluminium in your UOA: Lefties did it. Dog get run over: Lefty driving Soldiers step on a landmine: The lefties are cheering along side Al Queda. What can you expect from a...

    Bush's joke

Again, I say: he is not the victim of either emotional or physical loss. He is not being self-deprecating. He is making light of others' losses.

    Economists see 'booming economy'

Wow, PILL, you are really a piece of work. You very cleverly make implications ontop on my post to make it appear like I said things I didn't. I never said anyone tried to shut me up. Nice try sneaking that it. It's become clear that you're a gung-ho "us against them" kinda guy. If you're not a...

    Bush's joke

PRRPILL, I'm sure Rumsfeld would be very proud of you. Instead of focusing on the content of my post, just imply that I don't respect our service men and women. And base your post on what-ifs and might-have-beens. Nice. And the "Bush isn't anti-islamic" thing was a nice touch too. Way to...

kerry to ban trucks and suvs rasing gas tax by .50

And both parties are aware of that... which is why Kerry isn't going to completely screw that segment of the economy, and it's exactly why the GOP is trying to start rumors like this.

Why taxing the rich just doesn't work.

That's about right....... people purposefully turn a blind eye to the fact that one day this debt will need to be paid. But that would get in the way of the feel-good policies of today.

    Crappiest car make / model?

I have a theory on why American cars are prone to problems when compared to their Japanese counterparts. I'll give the abridged version. Decades ago, America was a bigger, wide open country with great roads for road trips. Families were bigger, and power and styling was paramount. The man of...

    Bush supporters...

You're grasping DJ... if these gas prices are the result of inflation, they will be $40/gallon by year's end at this rate of inflation! Not that it will matter, since a Ford Focus will cost $200,000. And really, isn't one dead American too many for a mistake?

I understand that the phrase is based in some truth, but so are so many of the stereotypes you might hear in some circles. That doesn't make them right.

Why taxing the rich just doesn't work.

ALS, that's very similar to what we already have. As it stands, a person is only going to pay the same percentage on the first $20k that someone who only makes a total of $20k makes (in the grand scheme of things). sbc, look at how many elderly, kids, and unemployed we have not paying taxes at...

Why taxing the rich just doesn't work.

a 10% flat tax wouldn't nearly support our budget... 30% might get us close... 40% on the Bush budget. I believe a flat tax would really hurt the middle class. The flat tax rate would have to be so high that lower and middle class people would get stuck with the big bill. Besides, do you...

    Bush supporters...

PILL used the classic "Clinton Got a Hummer" defense. Brilliant! "Bush isn't the worst president we've ever had! Get real! Other guys fifty, sixty, and seventy years ago messed up, too! So that makes Bush's policies better! And let's not forget Monica Lewinsky! That makes Bush AWESOME!"

The affect will be on the general population, and its perception of what defines the two groups. If Bush is spending out of control, and nothing is said about it, then people (especially swing voters) will being to consciously or subconsciously associate spending with Bush. If they say, "like a...

Ahhhh, from distraction and false implications to patronizing. Believe me, I don't need people like you to help ensure "my world" still exists. Don't flatter yourself.

Another difference: Rush, et al have no problems spreading half-truths and lies to further a politcal agenda while screaming about the "liberal media." NPR a least gives both sides, even if every once in a while a commentary (not news) is critical of one side or the other. There have been...

    Economists see 'booming economy'

You missed my point. This is a typical ploy that happens constantly--not just on BITOG.com's forums. Fox "news" and Limbuagh, et al. are a big fan of it. If Bush screws something up, spin it by saying he acted "like a liberal" or "like a Dem." So much for laying credit/blame where it's due.
