It’s the 1990’s: what motor oil and grade are you using?

Federated Co-op 15w40 in all motors. Probably CE in the earlier 90’s?

Saved co-worker from "I want to buy your car" scam

One thing I’ve learned from being involved in IT security is that some people are simply not able to detect scams. They are gullible, accept things at face value, and lack the ability to protect themselves. You would be surprised. Smart, successful people with no mental illness will, without...

    Slave Cyl Brands

I recently bought an exedy slave cylinder for my CRV and it was made in China and was junk. The box said “Distributed by Exedy”.

    The Speed Of Light ??

The OP is simply asking questions about things in an effort to learn. I appreciate it as I don’t have a solid understanding of these topics but find them fascinating. It’s unclear where your negativity is coming from here. Everyone in the thread is having a nice discussion, answering...

    The Speed Of Light ??

I’m sure someone will address this but I’ll just comment before reading the rest of the thread. I think about this a lot because I can’t imagine that the universe has an end, nor that it is infinite! Either choice seems impossible!

    Office Chair Explosions?

I will never again sit in an office chair!!!! 😇

    Cordless Tool Batteries

I'm looking at pricing and the Milwaukee 12v stuff seems to be quite a bit more expensive than Makita 18v (at least at Home Depot in Canada). I'm definitely leaning toward Makita 18V. Milwaukee does seem to have a lot more selection, for instance in varieties of ratchets, but I don't really...

    Cordless Tool Batteries

I’d like to slowly start building up my collection. Is the Makita 18v platform a safe way to go? Just diy auto and household stuff.

What are you working on today?

That sounds entirely reasonable. I’d be happy to pay that price, even if just for a pad slap. I haven’t been a business owner for about 15 years but folks simply do not understand the costs involved in running even a small operation.

What are you working on today?

I didn't but didn't look too hard either....

What are you working on today?

Now you tell me! 😁 Next on the list is the dash lights. I think there are 14 or so of them - I replaced all with Dorman a couple of years back and almost all are burned out already. I should have known better. I'll go OEM for those since it's a bit harder to get access to them but if I ever...

What are you working on today?

2005 Honda CR-V 323,300km Replaced all 6 HVAC Console lights. They’re strange bulbs that are on the end of a stick so it’s OEM only. $78CAD total for these bulbs, which is insane..but I wanted to fix it so I paid.

What are you working on today?

If you're like me, just enough time will go by before the next one that you'll forget how you solved any of the challenging bits of the job! 😵‍💫😁😇

    Slate EV Pickup

I still miss my 1980 Ford Courier! Cheap, simple, tremendous gas mileage for the time. They’ve all rotted away - I haven’t seen one for at least 5 years and not an unrestored example for 10 or 15.

What are you doing right now?

Just got home from watching the new IMAX release of Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii. As good as I expected…

Outside of extended OCIs with ideal usage (all highway), what is the use case for boutique oils?

In addition to the various qualities of the oils, they simply make people feel warm inside! 😎

    Purchased a 2011 Nissan Leaf!

We’ll consider a Bolt. A Kia Soul EV would be a contender as well, though a 2020 or later to get CCS. If the world goes entirely to hell and people hate Musk even more maybe I could get a cheap Tesla! 🤓

What's wrong with this Canada Tire synthetic oil (it's being cleared out) ?

I was deeply and grievously disappointed to find no sales in my local Canadian Tire today!! 🤓

    Purchased a 2011 Nissan Leaf!

2011 Leaf - thanks for your service and....goodbye! When I bought this I knew it had a passenger airbag issue so I had the contract worded such that it had to be fixed or else bought back. The dealer went to a lot of trouble to fix it but nothing that is actually economically reasonable worked...
