    Ravenol SSL 0w-40

Couldn't help myself and ordered 2 oil changes worth of Ravenol 0w40 LL01 SSL on sale from blaupart. With castrol edge LL01 dropped, I wanted to try the 0w40 as it has the a40, LL01, 229.5 approvals similar to the edge 0w30/0w40 I've been using for my BMWs. Was curious why the 0w40 SSL is more...

Dealer Filled BMW 0w20 LL14FE in M4, any concern?

BMW started off calling for LL01 oils for the S55 so that alone eliminated LL14FE oils. The thinnest they ever allowed after that was LL01FE . LL01 oils must be 3.5 hths or higher and LL01FE is 3.0 or 3.1. This 0w20 oil was 2 7 I believe, much thinner than originally spec'd. The B series motors...

Dealer Filled BMW 0w20 LL14FE in M4, any concern?

I've seen VOA on the BMW 0w20 and flash point was 440F. After only 1450 miles, 8 months, the flash point is now 390f, seems like a quick drop for such a short amount of miles - fuel dilution and water is minimal, and the car was driven up to 210-230F oil temperatures every single trip.

Dealer Filled BMW 0w20 LL14FE in M4, any concern?

Shocked me when I saw on my service paper from my last oil change at dealer they filled with 0w20, they said probably a typo. However, just got a blackstone UOA back that showed cSt Viscosity @ 100°C 8.20, meaning the dealer did indeed use BMW 0w20 in my BMW M4 that originally came with 5w30 /...

Sorry about that, is it that bad? I'm not a frequent poster here and it seemed like these acronyms were common here. BMW TPT is BMW twin power turbo GC = German Castrol LL01 0w40 FST BC = Belgium Castrol LL01 0w30 FST I will do better on using less acronyms.

The cars in my garage now are 2016 BMW M4, 2018 BMW X1, and 2007 BMW 550i. The two newer BMWs typically ran the BMW TPT variants, 0w20, 0w30, 5w30 - but some habits die hard and I prefer a PAO based oil even though the performance is likely the similar with the TPT. One thing I appreciate about...

Long time lurker here, always slightly intimated to post on here especially with such different viewpoints and biases I myself have been a GC 0w30 user when it was green back in the day, and gravitated towards BC 0w30 and GC 0w40 now. Having owned all BMWs, LL01 was always what I looked for, and...
