    Coolant hose replacement.

There was a time when one could, by squeezing it, tell if the hose needed changing, but that's not the case anymore. So for me it's a combo of Time & Mileage and I play it safe!!

Lexus RZ, first EV for the brand DOA

The EV as it is right now is only a stop-gap technology, new tech is coming and will take over.

    Battery maintainer and sensitive electronics

It is NOT the Lexus engineer's job, but the maintainer's engineer job to design it not to damage any circuitry. I would use a maintainer, not a cheap one, preferably one of the smart ones so that there will be no overcharging.

Can I use Lucas Synthetic DOT 3 Brake Fluid instead of the Subaru brand DOT 3 on a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek with 92K miles?

No, it says do a full flush of the older fluid and replace it with the new one. No mixing.

    Toyota oil change question

I've ALWAYS done the 1st oil change at 1,000 miles and so does the Car care Nut. The following one are always done around 5,000 miles. The 10K OCI is a marketing wish not a mechanic's. My last Toyota lasted for 480,000 Km with only reg maintenance and the OCI I mentioned above, my current Lexus...

Trd oil filter + TGMO 7000 miles

I used TRD oil filters for the 1st 3 years of my RX350 then I went to the regular ones as my mileage is sooo small. Those TRD are really awesome., but are 4x $$ of regular ones.

Replaced my Die hard AGM now MPG went up

I see no reason how/why a battery would affect MPG, other than perhaps the electronic mpg counter was not working right with the old one.

Do 6-cylinder Lexus cars require premium fuel?

I was told by a Lexus Tech (not dealer) 6 years ago, that all tests were conducted with 91 octane. Premium is NOT required, but there is a warning i the owner's manual not to go below 87 octane. I use 91 octane not for MPG or performance, but because the additives in the premium keep the engine...

Have you ever added water to the car battery?

You ought to check the "Water" level at least ever 12 months and add distilled water only to top up if needed. I do this twice a year sping & fall and also each time I recharge it with a smart charger that also desulfates. My battery is an OEM Lexus 7 years old, looks like new, has no deposits...

    Toyota Considers New EV platform

Not necessarily true! Newpapers these days are looking for sensationalism and big headline to draw attention. Toyota is smarter, they know that an all EV is not going to last especially with more of them on the market and an infrastructure that cannot support them. Plus the charging time and the...

Anti freeze consumption: How much is allowed?

There should be hardly any consumption between coolant changes assuming you do this every 5 years. Not a believer of 160K mikes or 10 yrs for coolant.

Stainless Steel Non Stick Fried Eggs!

What matters is NOT SS, but the bottom of the pan, how good is it, is it copper or aluminum sandwiched between the layers (copper = better= more $$) The reason for SS is one and only one, no need to season it and care for it. CI will do a better job in most instances, but it does require more...
