I took a used Toyota filter apart (Prius) and I was very impressed with the quality of construction and large amount of media. I currently have a Mobil 1 filter on my Prius but I would have confidence in going to a long OCI with a Toyota filter.

That transaxle is very expensive to replace and it has high voltage electrical windings exposed to the fluid - I would would stick with the Toyota fluid. The fluid does not need to be changed very often so cost is not a big issue.

I would try to undo the nut/studs. Because they are rusted the stud will likely unscrew from the block. Install new studs and nuts when you put it back together. I have done this job on a nissan but not a mazda.

I had to change out the main exhaust pipe on my 94 Accord a few years ago due to noise. If you do it stay with stock Honda parts. I tried non oem and ended up changing it again a few months later.
