665,000 miles on my original engine in my Accord using 5W-20 almost every single time... maybe it just needs more time before it kills it... :)

I prefer using an accurate OLM that'll take more factors into account.

There really shouldn't be a noticeable difference in mpg between 20 grade oils. Maybe a few tenths of a mpg at best under a controlled test from one end of the viscosity grade to the other, if that. I'm guessing there's some other factor.
