What do you use to clean up oil, fluid spills in the driveway?

Reminded me of around 10-15 years ago I was going to paint the carport. Got home and set the gallon can on the concrete and went in and had some lunch. Came back out and went to move the truck from under the carport. You can guess the rest........

    Homeowners insurance rate hike (FL)

I saw a report on how FEMA is using "equity" to adjust rates now. Someone far from Hurricane prone areas are gonna pay 2-4 x what someone enjoying the beach will pay now. https://www.fema.gov/sites/default/files/documents/fema_equity-action-plan.pdf

Interesting tube, no need to remove wheel

https://www.amazon.com/Huffy-Bicycle-Company-Quick-Change/dp/B07GW1HT1C?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1 I got an ebike and a flat on the front is no big deal, but a little more involved if it is the rear (hub drive). Mine needed some real tools to remove, not the stuff I would probably have on the...

Cheap Electricity in our new energy efficient home - Compare if you can

For the past 10 years or so I've had plans that paid a credit if you used AT LEAST 1000 kw/mo. Always thought that was wasteful but did my part. Got $95 a month to go from 999 to 1001. Averaged $55-70/mo, around 6 cents/kw all in. All electric 1500 sq ft in TX with 3 ton central ac and heat...

How long will a freezer last like this?

I have a small 2cu ' fridge in the garage for my RC Plane batteries. I use a timer like you do so I can also plug in a 12" fan to blow on the condensor coil. Been running that way for 4-5 years. I just need to keep the batteries cooler than a hot Texas garage gets, but it stays around 50.

Some drywall damage that just doesn’t make sense

I had a leak in my fairly new garage roof. Couldn't see anything from inside and went up on the roof and there was a #6 nail like they used putting some new decking on just sticking in the shingle like someone just started hammering it in, but sticking up an inch or two. It wasn't by the overlap...

    Cheap Compact Fridge Recommendations

As a side note I have one in my (hot Texas) garage that I use to store my lipo rc batteries. I have it set on a timer so I can plug a small 12" fan to run at the same time. Mine has the condensor coils in the sidewalls unexposed and the fan blowing on the sidewalls really helps keep the thing...

Personal Debt Issue...What Can Be Done?

Not recommending this but both of my ahem relatives just quit paying their credit cards. 7 years later he got a car loan on his own. Card all gone. Me, I've got an 800 credit score but can't get a walmart card because I don't owe anybody. Go figure.....

Electric bicycle rules on walking path

7 or 8 years ago Wife and I took a van (supposed to be the Cog Train but it was broken) up to Pikes Peak and rode rental bikes down. They would close off sections at a time of the road to cars while a bunch of us wizzed pass. Fun!! Great views! Hot brakes! No oxygen at the top! No pedestrians!

Electric bicycle rules on walking path

My ebike came with headlite taillite brakelite and a loud horn. I'm in the sticks and just ride the roads. 25 on a bike is fast! And I've been 130 on a MC.

Electric bicycle rules on walking path

I just tried riding thru the grassy ditch in my yard while pedaling and it didn't seem like the motor was gonna make it if I quit pedaling. But it was new and I didn't want to overheat it. I have watched YT vids of a guy testing a different model on a long hill with and w/o pedaling and he did...

    Electric water heater question

HM could have left on a hot and cold faucet after shutting off supply and siphoned from the tank depending on the location of everything. That might have burned out the top element. But if he did it properly-supply on first, off last, unlikely to cause harm. It's actually good to keep some water...

Electric bicycle rules on walking path

Just bought one a month ago, 100 miles on it now. 500 w, 7 speed derailler. 5 assist settings. Here is what I've learned-500 w is plenty for flat ground but not great for hills. There are 2 pedal sensors available, torque and cadence. Torque is usually more $ and can tell how much effort you are...

    Heat Wave in Texas

When my warranty goes out, when my ecm blower motor goes out I'll replace it with a relay and old school $100 motor. Regarding that $350 charge for the cap replacement-The window unit I bought for generator duty was only $450 for a really nice Freidrich w/free delivery! 1 ton with remote! The...

    Heat Wave in Texas

Of all the sensors they have now I don't understand there was not one (on mine anyway) to shut down and alert you when a cap fails. My 2018 unit was just sitting there timing out on the overload on the compressor and I guess the condensor fan was trying to run the whole time. The blower still...

    Heat Wave in Texas

"I would keep a window unit in a box in case the central AC konked out if I lived down there." Exactly. Just bought a 1 ton so my 5K generator would run it for Hurricanes and power outages. We already have 2 other wall shakers in some bedrooms. And then saturday, on my birthday, we came home...

    P.F. YouTube video ( 13:39 ) : '23 Best lawn mower blade sharpener ? $9 > $1,200 .

My Brother had this expensive magnetic bearing Balancer. It mounted on the wall and held the blade vertically. We could get it to where a small piece of paper, like a 2" square would make it start to rotate. But when we flipped the blade over it would show off-balance. ????? We even moved some...
