Things we see driving around - original content (pictures you snapped)

I remember when my Dad bought our first boat (1964ish) he did not want to sit on the wrong (right-hand) side and had them put the controls on the left. It didn't matter in the long run cuz Mom was usually in the right seat, and I think she out-weighed him. (Sorry Mom). I think the gear ratios in...

master cylinder good brand? OEM Toyota no longer available 2001

I ended up getting a new AM from Oreillys with Lifetime Warranty. At least when (if) it goes out I won't have to mail it back. Got it on, so far, so good. To anyone trying to get the12mm nut started back on to the driver side stud, use a 1/4" drive short socket on a long 1/4" extension. Thank...

master cylinder good brand? OEM Toyota no longer available 2001

I see some after market offerings. I know it's a crap shoot, help me beat the odds. 2001 Prerunner v6 Extracab. 255K. ( I'm not getting a soft pedal, but today I got kind of a 2 step movement with a fairly loud clunk and the right rear trying to lock up. I did get a flat yesterday (Front right)...

    HVAC filters

Most of you are probably aware that you need to reference YOUR exact filter dimensions. A 20 x 25 does not mean another brand 20 x 25 will fit properly. I've seen 1/4-1/2" variations in both dimensions. Just a way to get you to pay more for their brand, but if you look you can find one that...

Things we see driving around - original content (pictures you snapped)

My Dad had a 69 VW Camper van. I'd like to see a drag race with this vehicle. I borrowed the VW for a trip to Austin once, you basically just kept your foot to the floor and hoped to hit 55 mph, unless there was a hill.

Opinions on this Kohler standby generator?

My neighbor put in a 4 cylinder 24(I think)K Generac and propane tank last year. He finally mentioned the full cost. $24,000, 6,000 was a 500 gallon propane tank, filled up. This is close to Houston, TX. Just some info to share. The thing that gets me nowadays are all these 30 second outages we...

    Inconsistent Dipstick levels lol

Reminds me of a prank I read about years ago. Some teens knew their neighbor was meticulous about his car and it's mpg, and started adding a gallon of gas every week to it. Then after a month started siphoning a gallon or two out. He could not figure out what was wrong...

How old is your oldest motorcycle?

I liked the chain drive, I could change the ratios. That bike was set up for magazine 1/4 mile times I guess when new. I removed 4 teeth from the rear sprocket eventually to make it highway ready. When I sold it to a Harley owning friend later, he loved the acceleration. I told him he would have...

Volvo multi-ground spark plugs - why?

My 2001 Tacoma v6 5Vz has a reminder on the underside of the hood to use double electrode plugs always, and they come from the factory with ngks on one side and densos (if I remember right) on the other, probably because the coils are on the passenger side and has another (long) lead going to...

    Automotive sun shades

Chrome accordion for us in TX always. It was a hassle with radar detector back in the day, and dashcam until now but my Garmin has a magnetic disc to stick it to the window. Love it. If possible I point the truck away from the sun when I park and let the camper shell take the heat. 2001 Tacoma...

How old is your oldest motorcycle?

99 Valk Interstate. Shifter brace mod, rear wheel bearing upsize, etc. Finally, a smooth road mc after buying sooo many, from a Norton (71), Harley (51 Panhead, wasn't too bad really), Kawa Concours (the buzz queen), CBX (not as smooth as you would think), Kawa Vulcan (the 900 was smoothish till...

Do you remember? A generational perspective ...

I remember in 1971 when we first walked into San Jacinto College (close to Houston) there were ashtrays built into the walls in the hall. And we **** sure used em.

Tried "The Beekeeper". We like Jason but this was written by a 5th grader. And not a bright one!

Do you remember? A generational perspective ...

My Brother was A&P mechanic back then and he told me they could find cracks in the airframe cabin skin from the nicotine stains on the outer paint.

Why do so many people leave their turning signals on?

Yes, of all the "safety features" in newer cars they keep ignoring this. It should be top of the list. 1. Make the volume increase after a certain amount of time. 2. Add seat vibration. (I did that on my motorcycle for a few bucks). 3. Put the lights in the line of sight.
