    Mismarked oil

I picked up a jug of Quaker State 10W/40 motor oil for an oil change. The front of the bottle says 10W/40. The back that gives the comparison between high mileage, synthetic, etc…, says 10W/30. Is this a misprint ?

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

Curiosity has got the best of me. Truck still smokes like crazy but there has been no oil loss after using Lucas Oil Stabilizer. I think I will do an oil dump and see refill with a 5W/40 and check weekly to see if there is an consumption with a 40wt oil. If there is consumption, I will top off...

What is the absolute best mainstream full synthetic oil?

What would e the cost of a water pump replacement? It would seem that just replacing the pump at a designated interval prior to failure would be more cost efficient and less worrisome than multiple coolant flushes and obsessing over what type of oil. You can nurse the water pump along in hopes...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

After 6 years of driving it this way, I had the valve stem seals replaced. Problem is the valve guides are worn/loose. Can’t justify putting $600-$800 in a $1200 pickup. Seems like it smokes more and uses more oil after replacing the valve stem seals.

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

America has always been America! Except in the 1930’s when we almost became Socialist due to economic collapse. America is the land of hopes and dreams. It’s also the land of stark reality. Dreams don’t trump reality. He who fails to plan plans to fall. My cautious outlook isn’t because I know...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

I had toyed with the idea of upgrading in the near future. But as bleak as things look, not very likely even if I could afford it. I find myself being very cognizant of the overall economic outlook and find myself changing a lot of habits. I don’t unnecessarily idle my vehicle for any reason...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

Wasn’t familiar with the nature of what makes up Lucas Oil Stabilizer. Will probably drain and go with Maxlife and a seal conditioner.

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

In a normally functioning engine, I would agree 1000 percent. But as stated, my engine isn’t functioning normally. And a mechanical fix would not be worth the investment in a 31 year old vehicle with a rough body. They same could be said of gasoline additives. If your fuel isn’t working...

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

The compression was pretty decent when I had it checked a year ago. So I don’t think that it is a ring issue. I was told that the valve guides were bad. I don’t quite understand the mechanics of that. My twin got the mechanics/carpentry genes.

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

I guess the proof is in the pudding. No smoke on start up this morning. Good, bad, or indifferent it is doing something. Vehicle is spec’d for 5W/30. I’ve tried 10W/30 and 10W/40. What’s next, 15W/40?

    Mixing oil additives

The vehicle in question runs and drives good despite the oil consumption. However the body is rough and will probably go before the motor and transmission. Heck, I’ve driven it for 7 years now. The body is a little worse for the wear and the oil burning has gotten a little worse. It has smoked...

    Mixing oil additives

As I understand, perhaps incorrectly, the Lucas is a thickener. That’s my perception. The LiquiMoly is a seal conditioner and was/is effective in valve guides and seals.

    Mixing oil additives

About 10 days ago I changed oil in my 91 Chevrolet K1500 and used a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer. I know that the value guides are bad and the Lucas has helped. Today, I heard about LiquiMoly Oil Saver. The videos I watched say it will help with worn valve guides. Can I just add it in with the...

I will change out before winter. Looking at a different product, at least for mine. Liqui Moly Oil Saver.

    Lucas Oil Stabilizer helping

My daughter’s 2002 Blazer, 4.3 V6, was using about one quart of oil per week. No smoke, no leaks. Changed the oil. 3.5 quarts and one quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer. 10 days in and no significant loss of oil. My 91 Chevrolet K1500, 4.3 V6, was smoking like crazy and using oil due to bad valve...

    2012?Nissan Rogue; fix or no?

When inquiring on fluid change intervals, I get different information. Called Nissan and they said 90k. Other online sources say every 30k. The vehicle is at my in-law’s place 800 miles away. Brother-in-law is going to check the fluid. If it isn’t completely burnt/black, he will get it serviced...
