Agree, oils made for extended service intervals are not essential if your changing more frequently due to water etc. Subaru engines like to go bang. I'd go thicker until I established through testing thinner was ok. Hes in Georgia as well. W rating doesn't matter. What off the shelf good quality...

Oh you can go way thicker, especially in a Subaru. Go a 10W50 or 5W50, at least a XW40.

Is there an industry standard upper cylinder lube for ethanol fuels? Kind of like an equivalent to Techron.

Especially since I'm about to go through a custom tuning process with multiple maps as well. After I have some UOA results etc. possibly I can go thinner but if I go too thin at this stage there is no coming back from that.
