Exactly what Bighorn2500 said. Before the DEF injection, these trucks used a massive amount of EGR to accomplish the same thing. Also biodiesel greater than 5% is really hard on the DPF system because of the soot it generates.

Well it wasn’t Cummins who came out with the TSB. It was Stelantis and they came out with it around May of 2020. I have seen a spreadsheet with a list of trucks with failed lifters and cams with only 1 truck listed as having been running 15-40 and it had 350,000 miles at the time of the failure...

Mine is not quite as long as 6.7 CTD’s but 5915 miles. 146 hours. 2450 miles towing 7K TT.

Just an update: President Trump has signed an Executive Order reducing EPA Regulations on tailpipe emissions for Automakers.

I hope all of you who use fuel oil for heating are also running DPFs and SCRs and DEF injection. If not we are probably going to get more of this weird weather that we have been having for the last 69 years.

It’s the same around here. Walmart is up to 25 something for T6 lately. I usually have a big enough stash I can wait for the sales. Sam’s usually has a sale every now and then for T6.

EPA has also created a new update for increasing Biofuel usage increasing every year. Biodiesel does not play well with the DPF in my truck and also decreases OCI length. Also no ethanol increase.

Check out some of the CJ4 or CI+ hdeos at the ZDDP levels. CJ and CK came after ULSD because the other oils were playing havoc with the DPFs. A deleted diesel can run just about anything that will burn for fuel and just about any kind of oil is sufficient.

Basically they are nitpicking against the diesel engines. Mandating higher fuel efficiency while mandating higher emissions standards that reduce efficiency. Motor oils that protect engine parts are being numbed down to protect emissions systems parts.

I’m kinda in the same situation as you as far as the dealership goes. I bought my truck from a dealer 15 miles east of me. They had the truck that I wanted so I got it. After several trips to them trying to get an updated recall done, the service manager said they couldn’t do anything about it...

Government mandated to reduce noise emissions. Ram 6.7 is the only Cummins 6.7 with the hydraulic lifters. All of the other commercial and industrial 6.7 Cummins engines are still sold lifters.

You have it documented that you reported the situation and that they didn’t find anything wrong. I would drive it now and not worry about it. They are the experts lol.
