"Will it run" CJ7 revival project - oil recommendations?

Yup, I figure it'll take a few hours and hundreds to thousands of miles to have an effect, if at all. Probably a problem for the future owner to tackle. Would you recommend Maxlife over standard HDEO? Any specific reasons? Just curious. Thanks!

"Will it run" CJ7 revival project - oil recommendations?

Good evening BITOG world, I'm about to embark on a project to resurrect my brother in law's 1983 CJ7 Wrangler Laredo that has been parked for almost five years. Has been in the family for over 20 years and it's time to move it on to a new owner. Parked in Phoenix, AZ so a good climate for...

    oil filter tightness question

My '22 Yukon w/5.3 has an oil pan that wraps around much of the filter. No easy way to get a good grip so I recently purchased a properly fitting cap wrench.

    Changing filters in 5000 miles

I've cut open a few of my oil filters with 4 to 7k mileage on them from every vehicle in my sig plus an old Onan on my garden tractor, and I've universally found that they still have plenty of filtration capability left. Unless your engine is about to grenade itself, you should not be seeing...

    Aged-out Tires From 2011

I agree with significant sun exposure. The Michelins installed back in 2015 on my truck have been garaged 99% of the time and still look brand new.

    What's everyone's favorite 0w-20 these days?

Using Kirkland, Dexos certified and I use it in 2 of my 4 vehicles. The F-100 now gets 15w40 HDEO, Jeep Kirkland 5w-20, Mazda and GMC get the 0w20. Would think about using it in the Jeep as well but I'm sticking with the OE spec'd.

    John Deere Tractor opinions

While I agree that issues at 200 hours should be considered "infant mortality" in equipment lifespan failure analysis, I also realize that 200 hours is 6 to 8 years for many homeowners.

New Cub Cadet Zero Turn ZT1 54

You might look into heavy duty blades. Helped a neighbor sharpen his and I noted the OEM blades were a bit on the thin side. If you mow high and in non-sandy soil, you may get good life out of the blades though.

    Heater Core Cleaning Options

Be careful with garden hose pressures. This method can cause leaks, as water pressure is generally higher than rated cooling system max designed pressures. I would recommend a funnel and gravity draining, or very low pressure electric pump usage.

    C&P Napa Gold 1515/Ford 460

Since 2013. I've done an oil change about every 2-3 years (about each military PCS move), with 2-3k miles on each oil change. Only put about 10k miles on it in the past 12 years. Significant blowby, so I need to do a compression test and stick an endoscope in the cylinders to see what I'm...

    C&P Napa Gold 1515/Ford 460

It's the big block - 460 cu in/7.5L. The block code actually puts it as a Lincoln Continental type engine, at some point the small block 302 that the truck came with was swapped out for the big block. Fuel mileage must have dropped proportionally, because a 45 gallon aux tank was installed...

Oil change today on the '77 F-100, ran Rotella T4 10w30 and Napa Gold for approx 1500 miles, 23 months. Long road trip after the oil change back in 2023 then short trips since then. Picture of valve cover from a week before the oil change as well. Light sludge or residue, but it wipes off...

3.6 pentastar as bad as it seems ???

Yeah I doubt many would disagree with this statement!

Ram 1500 3.6 lower tow capacity than mid size - what gives?

You've got to remove a bracket around the alternator. Not a huge deal but overall, the Pentastar is a plastic engine. Of course, most everything else is these days. http://www.wanderingtrail.com/Mechanical/2012JK/36LDriveBelt/36LDriveBelt.html

    Streamlight Microstream flashlight for EDC.

Ram 1500 3.6 lower tow capacity than mid size - what gives?

Not sure if I'd prefer the Pentastar, look at the cost of doing simple stuff like serpentine belt or spark plug replacement. I have a '13 JKU with the Pentastar and I'm likely going to pony up and pay a shop to do this maintenance.

    Good grease for flashlight threads?

Flashlight nerds and I agree; however it's notable that Maglite recommends petroleum jelly. https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/safe-to-lubricate-o-rings-with-petroleum-jelly.54243/

    Good grease for flashlight threads?

Love some Super Lube. I have a couple tubes of it in the garage and use it frequently.
